It looks that way anyway! The publisher has posted a teaser image of Gwen Stacy decked out in a version of the Merc With A Mouth's costume, sporting her trademark pink and white color scheme. The caption reads only: "Seriously?!?!…Gwenpool?” Take a look...

"Gwenpool" was originally created for Chris Bachalo's Secret Wars variant cover (see above), but fans completely embraced the Gwen Stacy/Deadpool mashup character and it seems Marvel took notice. The image from artist Ron Lim below popped up on Twitter with no accompanying details aside from the "Seriously?!?!…Gwenpool?” caption, so we've no idea if this is signalling another variant, a one shot story, or possibly even a new ongoing series.


We'll update as soon as we know more, but for now, yes, seriously, Gwenpool!

I love what Marvel Studios is doing with the Movies, but I am not a fan of where their comics are heading. Seems like rebooted crap. IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT MARVEL!
I guess they must be getting enough flack from the feminist movement that they feel they need to replace super heroes with female versions.

Spider-Gwen was ok as a one-off Edge of Spiderverse comic. The main series sucks.

I doubt its about feminism. More about preparing to cash in on DP's movie success. They have to pay Liefeld royalties when his characters hit high sales marks, and I'm betting that this is a version they wouldn't have to share with him.

I like it. The weird pseudo-connection that Spidey has to Deadpool, based entirely on their costumes' similarities is an odd, but fun running gag.



Totally appropriate and funny for Spider-Gwen to have hero own counterpart. But I probably would have just given a pink costume to Lady Deadpool. Is she still a thing? I haven't really kept up with current comics for a while.

I guess it's the most direct route to generating interest in a female character.
