Rob Liefeld Compares DEADPOOL 2 To ALIENS And Promises Significantly More Action

It was clear from our first proper look at Deadpool 2 that the ante is going to be upped in terms of action and now creator Rob Liefeld has weighed in on just how much bigger the sequel is going to be.

The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld following the release of the first trailer for the sequel and it definitely sounds like we should be excited about what's to come this May.

The comic book writer and artist compares Deadpool 2 with Aliens, the second film in the Alien franchise which is widely considered the best one and a huge improvement over its predecessor. It also sounds like we should expect a lot more action in the sequel, something which makes sense considering the fact that Fox no doubt gave Ryan Reynolds and company had more money to play with.

"Deadpool was Alien. It’s brilliant. It completely works. It’s a masterpiece," Liefeld says. "Deadpool 2 is Aliens. It’s when James Cameron came in and said, ‘OK you want me to do this? We’re going to make it bigger, put in loads more action.’" So, the movie sounds pretty damn awesome then.

That was to be expected after watching the trailer and it's going to be interesting seeing if making Deadpool 2 bigger can indeed help it top the first instalment. What do you think? Sound off below.

I hope they keep the gymnastics they gave Deadpool in the first film. It was very unique I feel, it resembled the elastic nature of Spider-Mans jumps and kicks but also didn't have the huge power of his.
It's especially prevalent wiht the his duel with main villian at the end.

should we really care what Rob Liefeld has to say, when he created Deadpool wasnt he just a Deathstroke rip off, and other writers turned him into a parody. Plus his image comics are horrible, and a lot of his "Original character" are just marvel rip offs

@dracula - ... and also he is an artist who makes a living drawing the human form but can only draw muscles and pouches well. The man has no concept of how to proportion a person... even an exaggerated form like a comic book hero. He can’t draw feet unless you say that his personal style means to draw feet like DBZ. And don’t get me started on his perspective.

The guy is a hack. The only reason I enjoy his contributions to the art of comics is to laugh at him.

@BlindWedjat - Really not trying to turn this into a fight bro (!), I absolutely love Black Panther, but that video was gar-bage. Pass on the cringe voice-over, they're wrong about so, so many things, and they (or he) keep saying they've researched the material a lot to try and find answers, but it seems all they looked at was animation and movies, and need to read some [frick]ing comics. Not many people have read BP, just like not many people have read Guardians before it became a movie, even though they've been here for 40 years. I'm sure the people who have made this video have read the big Batman stories, the popular ones, and never touched a BP book or anything else regarding Batman.

I'm not saying T'Challa wouldn't win, I'm saying the way Batman loses is COMPLETELY absurd, since it's based on him having time to prepare for the fight, doing research, which is the only case when he's sure to win. Despite all his gadgets, he has nothing to counter T'Challa's vibranium armor and power set (what they say at the end)? He has a living Hellbat nano-armor that makes him capable of fighting Darkseid, and a Justice Buster that took down the entire Justice League in a single fight, including WW, GL, Flash and Superman. With prep and access to his special suits, he could fight the entire Avengers and win, or at least to a stand-still. He's also defeated far superior beings like Superman with ruse and tactics, and has defeated great fighters with enhanced strength like Bane or Captain America, without special suits. If he prepared for the fight, studied T'Challa and his gear, T'Challa loses every single time.

Without prep, mano a mano, no super suit or anything funky like that, I would give T'Challa winner maybe 7 out of 10 times because of the claws, super speed and strength. Maybe even 8 out of 10 times. It wouldn't allow him to win every single time, but enough. They're not even in the same category, Bruce isn't a meta.

I think a much better fit would be Deathstroke vs Black Panther. Now that would probably be a 50/50 in every condition, to the death, prep, no prep, weapons or no weapons, since they both have enhanced strength, speed, and combat instinct/battle reading. That, would be interesting.

Oh yeah? Well I’m comparing Rob Liefeld to a rat, and I promise it’s not a compliment

@PicolasCage - Can the rat also not draw well?
