We can surely all agree that Hugh Jackman is a great Wolverine, but a sticking point from the start has been the actor's height. At 6'2", he's considerably taller than the character's comic book counterpart who clocks in at a diminutive 5'3".
It would be wrong to say Logan's height doesn't matter as it's often a big part of who he is as a person and the way he approaches a battle.
Jackman has more than made up for any size issues with his compelling performance but there were still complaints earlier this week when our first look at Deadpool 3 was officially unveiled.
Many fans couldn't help but point out how wrong it looked for Wolverine to be the same height as Wade Wilson, but is this any better?
Horrifying.
That, however, is what it would look like if you had a 5'3" Jackman standing alongside the 6'2" Reynolds. Simply put, it doesn't work, and while the next Wolverine could be an actor who is shorter than the Deadpool 3 star, we really think going this small will look utterly ridiculous.
For what it's worth, it's not just fans who have expressed concerns about Wolvie's height on screen. Jackman has previously revealed that X-Men producer Tom DeSanto shared concerns and confirmed many of his scenes in that movie were shot in a way meant to make the actor look smaller than he really is.
That's a surprise given filmmaker Bryan Singer's apparent lack of interest in adhering to the comic books, though Jackman later confessed the idea was dropped in subsequent movies.
Someone else who appears to be having fun with the recent height complaints is Ryan Reynolds...
Deadpool 3 is set to be released in theaters on May 3, 2024.
