X-FORCE Director Drew Goddard Updates Fans; Will It Hit Production Before The Merger?

Unfortunately it has been a while since fans have gotten an update on X-FORCE. Should fans be worried about the film getting off the ground?

X-Force will likely be the last Marvel film to be released from Fox. With no release date set, and the Disney merger expected to close anywhere between May and September, fans have been itching to hear how far director Drew Goddard is into development. But according to Goddard, "there is no real update"

I tend to focus very intensely on one movie at a time. We’re just sort of finishing Bad Times now, Ryan is off shooting a movie and everyone sort of scattered, like dandelions to the wind. I think as we finish this up, we’ll all get together and start hammering out what we want to do next, but there’s no real update at this point.

Following his hiring, the X-Force director was deep into preproduction for his latest film, Bad Times at the El Royale. Considering how he describes his work ethic, Goddard must have not worked too much on furthering the superhero film during the past year.

If the Disney merger were to close during May, Fox would need to have started production on the film by then to be released. But is this possible? Due to the fact that X-Force does not have a release date, one can assume that Fox is unsure of how fast the pre-production process would take considering the busyness of its producers and director. Along with Gambit, X-Force will NEEDS to start production in the first quarter of 2019. Gambit is already planning for this without a director on board, but unlike X-Force, the script is already finished. Hopefully, Goddard comes up with a quality screenplay during that timetable. The director has previously stated that he has the story down.

Do you think Fox make it all work out?

@MrCamw1 - yeah homogenizing... applying the MCU formula to make Deadpool more like everyone else. I mean Infinity War was great but the past couple years everything else has been fast food... i guess Infinity War was just phenomenal fast food

Feige likes Deadpool as it is. There is really no way Marvel could do a "family friendly" MCU'ed version.
While Fantastic Four will be brought into the MCU, they are going to let the X-Men be in their own
own R/hard PG-13 rated universe where they can set up a clash of universes Secret Wars type event
the puts the Avengers against the X-Men.

The deal could possibly be done by the end of the year. Though most are saying early next year.

I’m indifferent if an X-Force movie gets made or now to finish off the DP saga. I liked Deadpool 2 more or less than the first movie.

Bad Times at the El Royale was pretty good.

As for X-Force, not sure this will be released under the FOX banner (if at all).

@MrCamw1 - Hemsworth did well. I think he was my favorite part of the film. Nobody really felt like the didn't belong per se. The ensemble cast handled the screen-sharing well.

Thanks for the follow! I'll try and post at least a few times a day.

@L0RDbuckethead

Bridges and Pullman were really good. I liked Hemsworth as Billy Lee but he didn’t get enough screen time to really care about imo.

Also I thought the end would be a little more tense. And the movie has its pacing issues but I liked it overall.

My girlfriend didn’t.

@regularmovieguy - That's funny, mine didn't care for it either. She found it too tangential and confusing. (Which I didn't get, at all).

@L0RDbuckethead

Yeah, the movie was a lot more straightforward than I thought it would be.

I think we just saw it on a Wednesday night so we both had work in the morning and it does take a while to get everyone in the same room at the end but it was still solid.

Loved the visuals, the music, the cast were all pretty great in their roles. Just had some pacing issues with the movie. Also, I know this has more to do with expectations than the movie itself but wish the movie had a more supernatural element.

Like something incomprehensible that brought them all to that hotel on that night.

Will all the fans who pushed FOX for years to make a hardcore Wolverine film, suddenly be content with
a soft as baby shit Disney Logan as long as he's under 5 feet tall and wears a "comic book accurate costume?

@WarnerBrother - did we just become best friends? That is the smartest thing I’ve seen on here in ages
LongMayHeReign
LongMayHeReign - 10/8/2018, 10:33 PM
@WarnerBrother - No!!! I'll be content with it as long as the X-MEN as a whole are more comic accurate with true costumes, a proper cohesive timeline, and if Mystique is NOWHERE TO BE FOUND (In terms of leading the team).

We had our rated R Wolverine now I want a Wolverine in yellow and blue/brown. If Venom can be somehow loved without an R rating then Wolverine in the MCU can as well.
