Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness promises to turn the MCU on its head, and opening the door to the Multiverse really could change everything. There's not much longer to go before we find out what Marvel Studios has in store for us, but for now, a new batch of stills put the spotlight on the sequel's four leads: Doctor Strange, Wong, Scarlet Witch, and America Chavez.
The latter has the ability to punch her way through reality, likely making her pivotal to however this story plays out. Assuming she sticks around beyond this movie, Chavez looks set to be the character that opens the door to the MCU's heroes being able to travel to different worlds.
The character was once set to be part of Spider-Man: No Way Home, but scheduling changes to Marvel Studios' slate seemingly altered plans. As a result, that movie ended up showing us the consequences the Multiverse's existence could have on the MCU before Strange's next solo outing.
In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Marvel Cinematic Universe unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. We'll journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.
The movie's cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stühlbarg, and Rachel McAdams. The film is directed by Sam Raimi, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Eric Hauserman Carroll and Jamie Christopher serve as executive producers. The screenplay was written by Loki Head Writer Michael Waldron.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released on May 6.
