DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Will Reportedly Feature Tom Hiddleston's Return As Loki

WARNING: Some Spoilers For The Season Finale Of Loki Follow!

We all thought the Scarlet Witch would be the one responsible for tearing apart the Multiverse in WandaVision, but it turns out it was Loki (well, Sylvie) all along. Now, the stage has been set for What If?, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, and countless other stories we never expected to see play out on screen.

Secret Wars, anyone?

Of all those projects, it feels like the Doctor Strange sequel will be the one to tackle the Multiverse head-on, and The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Tom Hiddleston is expected to appear as Loki in the movie.

This is the first time a trade has reported that news, and while they note that Marvel Studios hasn't made it official, they're clearly confident the God of Mischief's story will continue in the 2022 movie. How that will tie into the way things wrap up in today's season finale of Loki remains to be seen, but given Loki's role in what happened, some sort of cameo appearance definitely makes sense.

Remember, Loki Head Writer Michael Waldron also penned the screenplay for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so the two projects being tied closely together shouldn't come as a surprise.

The next few years in the MCU promise to be a crazy ride for fans of the comic books, and we might as well rename the Marvel Cinematic Universe the "Marvel Cinematic Multiverse" at this point.

How do you think Loki could factor into the Sorcerer Supreme's team-up with the Scarlet Witch?

A project with Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch and Loki is something I wanted to see for quite some time, so I'm hoping it's gonna be more than just a cameo.

@KWilly - Okay, let's say it is so - wouldn't that also mean we get Loki S2 before Multiverse of Madness?

I've never been more amped for all these Phase 4 projects after Loki. Seeing how they are all gonna be factoring into the movies, and the What If show... all this Multiverse MCU stuff in phase 4 is dope! Doing it big and proper.

Assuming it’s not a cameo but not a major part either. I’m sure they run into him across a timeline while he’s already there.

@TheShape9859 - It's how they word things and have been for years. Look at the end of several of their films; "Thanos will return", "Captain America will return", and so on. If you are serious, you might be using the word "return" maybe too literally.

I’m guessing Loki is going to be there for exposition on what the hell is going on with the multi-verse madness.

"Marvel Cinematic Multiverse"

It's just the Marvel Multiverse. It encompasses all Marvel universes across all media. MCU is Earth 1999999.

So it turns out that this multiversal war was not Secret Wars 2015 after all, but a Kang-centered war in which the MCU was the only remaining timeline. Is that accurate? Because that's messed up.

Solid series. Really wasnt expecting it to end the way it did. But it makes sense. Very interesting to see that our Loki is stuck in a new timeline. Actually he is technically outside of time. Im looking to see what they do in the future. Maybe season 2 focuses on him trying to put things back together but he cant and so it just gets worse. Maybe Dr Strange will try to help. Or a great reset will happen. Im kind of shocked my prediction of them ploping him back into the timeline where he left didnt happen. I guess a multiversal war is coming. Crazyness and chaos. Who knows what Marvel is gonna do. The next phases is not as obvious to me as the first four were. Marvel pretty much could make any type of movie / show they want to since they gave us their univere rules and layed the groundwork with the infinity saga. Their hands are not tied in anyway shape or form. Pretty cool.
