What If? premieres on Disney+ on August 11, and after Loki's bonkers finale, fans are anxious to find out what sort of impact the animated series is going to have on the MCU's Multiverse plans.
One popular theory is that some of these characters could make their way to live-action, with whatever plays out here somehow factoring into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and beyond. Leaked promo art has already suggested that these Variant heroes and villains will assemble as the Guardians of the Multiverse, but it's Captain Carter who has grabbed the attention of most fans.
Hayley Atwell will reprise the role of Peggy Carter to lend her voice to a version who takes the super soldier serum in place of Steve Rogers, but could a live-action debut follow?
In a rumor shared on The Disinsider Show, hosts Skyler Shuler and Derek Cornell reveal, "[What If? is] not the last time we're going to see Captain Carter. We are hearing...this is not confirmed. Captain Carter is supposedly going to show up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness."
They stress that this is only a rumor and is in no way confirmed, but it sure is an interesting and very exciting prospect, eh? Strange crossing paths with this superhero version of Peggy would be nothing short of spectacular, while also establishing the importance of Marvel Studios' first animated series.
Don't get too excited just yet, but this could be a cameo worth keeping an eye out for next year.
