Talk about bad timing, eh? Just days after the latest trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was released, Sir Patrick Stewart started doing the rounds to promote his Star Trek TV series, Picard, and the legendary actor ended up being bombarded by questions about the Marvel movie.
In that sneak peek, we saw Stephen Strange come face to face with a mysterious character who is almost certainly Professor X. The X-Men leader being part of the Illuminati adds up, and his psychic powers should be more than a match for the former Sorcerer Supreme and even the Scarlet Witch.
Previously, Stewart was quoted as saying, "Friends and some people I hardly knew at all making reference to [the trailer]. 'Is that you? Is that you?' Well, of course, you know, I was just at home waiting to watch football, so how could it possibly have been me? We'll have to wait and see, won't we?" He'd later point out, "You know, people have been imitating my voice ever since I came on the stage 60 years ago. So, I can't be held responsible for that."
Now, though, we'd argue Stewart has issued his funniest response yet, simply stating: "Who's Doctor Strange?" With that, the interviewer is shut down, and the actor appears to be having great fun.
Which Charles Xavier Variant we'll see in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness remains to be seen. Many fans have questioned why Marvel Studios would bring Stewart back as the character ahead of an X-Men reboot, but we're sure there's a method to their apparent madness.
We'll find out what's going on when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness arrives on May 6.
