In the new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer, we saw a character who appeared to be Patrick Stewart's Professor X. The actor, however, isn't giving anything away on his possible return.

Last Sunday, Marvel Studios released a new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that was crammed with big reveals. At one point, the MCU's former Sorcerer Supreme was brought before a group believed to a Multiversal Illuminati, with Sir Patrick Stewart's Professor X seemingly among them.

It certainly sounded like the legendary actor, anyway, and the Picard star was asked about his apparent MCU debut during a recent interview with Kevin McCarthy.

"I must say, before bedtime on Sunday evening, I'd had plenty of communications," Stewart recalled with a smile. "Friends and some people I hardly knew at all making reference to [the trailer]. "Is that you? Is that you?' Well, of course, you know, I was just at home waiting to watch football, so how could it possibly have been me? We'll have to wait and see, won't we?"

Clearly not wanting to give anything away, the X-Men star appears to be having fun teasing interviewers looking to get a Doctor Strange scoop from him. In a separate conversation with ComicBook.com, Stewart teased: "You know, people have been imitating my voice ever since I came on the stage 60 years ago. So, I can't be held responsible for that."

It's seem pretty obvious that it is Stewart's Charles Xavier (or at least a Variant of the one we've previously seen on screen) in the trailer, but exactly what role he'll play in the Sam Raimi helmed sequel remains to be seen. The impact his appearance will have on the X-Men's MCU future is another big mystery.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released in theaters on May 6.

Like I said, no one from the film is going to confirm anything until the film comes out.

He said “yea that’s me” without saying it basically. You can’t mistake that distinctive voice

Remember when he said that he'd never tarnish the characters ending in Logan by returning? Then remember when Feige pulled out his check book?

@HydraB0b
Kevin won him over by saying that it wouldn't be the same Xavier but a variant and doing something like this would make the fans happy.

C'mon, Bob.

CBMS and CBTV are too focused of cameos. After Marvel has had every Fox X-Men & Fantastic Four cameo, all they have left is Snipes as Blade, Affleck's DD, Cage's Ghost Rider and then they will start having the 2012 Avengers start showing up again. After that, they have nothing left, unless they start bringing in cameos from outside of Marvel IPs. Disney was trying to buy DC Comics so maybe they could buy DC and start having DC characters drop in for applause.

It's obviously him, but it would be kinda hilarious, if it was David Kaye, James Arnold Taylor or someone else known for being able to do decent Stewart impression with a bald cap.

Of course it was him. This is like when Andrew Garfield denied he was in Spider-man no way home. As soon as I heard the voice I said it was Patrick Stewart.

I’m sorry, but he is WAY too old to still be doing Xavier. He’s of coarse a phenomenal actor and he absolutely embodied the role 20 years ago. If he’s in this it should only be as a crossover cameo.

Just pop that segment of the interview over the would-be scene in the movie, and I'll take it.

Patrick Stewart is a global treasure. Leave him the hell alone journalists. Don't you Andrew Garfield him. He's elderly and should not be harassed or manipulated aggressively. Let the movie come out and we will all be surprised.

@SonOfAGif -

For real so many journalists have lost credibility. They’re pretty much all shills or paparazzi at this point.
