ETERNALS: Evidence Mounts We Could See Richard Madden's Ikaris Return Sooner Than Expected

We thought Richard Madden might be done as Ikaris after Eternals, but evidence appears to have started mounting that we could see the actor return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe sooner than expected.

Eternals is now streaming on Disney+, but we might not have too long to wait before seeing these characters again. Gemma Chan recently confirmed that she's coming back as Sersi, but we definitely weren't anticipating seeing Richard Madden's Ikaris in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again.

At the end of the movie, [SPOILER WARNING!] Ikaris takes his own life by flying into the sun. Unable to live with his actions and the role he played in stopping the Emergence, this appeared to be where Ikaris' story ended...or was it? These characters have been part of the MCU for the past 7000 years, while it's always possible he somehow managed to survive or didn't intend to kill himself.

Recently, Emmy Kennard took to TikTok to share a video revealing that her brother, Joe Kennard, is set to return to the MCU imminently. He was a stunt double for Madden in Eternals, and that's the only character he's ever filled in for; now, it's certainly possible Kennard will be doubling for someone else, but it might be worth noting that he also doubled for the actor in the miniseries Citadel.

Here's our theory: reshoots are reportedly taking place on Moon Knight right now, so what if Ikaris shows up in flashbacks to Khonshu's time on Earth? He's the ancient Egyptian God of the Moon, and the voice Marc Spector often hears in his head while heading into action suited up as Moon Knight.

We'll see what happens, but more Madden in the MCU would be no bad thing. Many fans were disappointed to see his stint as Ikaris end so soon, though there are rumours that he might be in line to be the next Bond...

I think that sacrifice would have worked with more weight if they didn’t just off him in the first movie

Eternals was a great movie and needs a sequel. I never thought he died the first time I saw this movie.

Soooooo they are gonna show him flying into the sun only to realize hot lava has no effect on him? Is he just gonna be awkwardly swimming in fire🤔?

This is dumb🤦

@AmazingFILMporg - It could just be self-exile or Arishem could activate a new version of him.

@AmazingFILMporg - Actually they never show him flying into Sun they cut away. We don't know even if he actually did.

@AmazingFILMporg - all of the dead eternals can be revived in future films without any real continuity errors. They just won't have the memories of their last couple centuries

I actually liked him alot.

Sometimes a little bitch but most teenagers are.

I really liked the ending. I dont get the complaints💁

Actually one complaint I get is that they bring back an old character only to leave him hanging🤦

But other than that I loved it❤

Yeah, I watched it. It was fine. Definitely felt rushed with the sheriff catching dexter but it was solid.

@AmazingFILMporg - I really enjoyed the ending. I get his anger toward Dexter but I also am annoyed with how overly shitty teenagers are now on tv. Don't get me wrong teens can be dicks but sometimes it borders on pure cruelty.

Yea that older character returning felt oddly convenient. Tighter writing coudl've fixed that.

It won't surprise me at all if we see different Eternals in Thor 4, The Marvels and Guardians 3, not to mention a D+ show. We had Yelena in Hawkeye basically a year (filming-wise) after she debuted in Black Widow

@OmegaDaGrodd -

i honestly wouldn't be mad if Gorr butchered a few of them, but then again, it wouldn't be very impactful given how little time we spent with most of them.
OmegaDaGrodd
OmegaDaGrodd - 1/13/2022, 11:11 AM
@HeraldNumber7 - I definitely think showing Gorr fighting previous versions of the Eternals and slaughtering them would be a great way to set the stage for his power level, and also reinforce the concept that The Eternals are an expendable force that Celestials pump out of an assembly line, which is a concept I don't think the movie really showcased too well
HeraldNumber7
HeraldNumber7 - 1/13/2022, 11:16 AM
@OmegaDaGrodd -

oh, true that. to your point, i totally forgot about the mass-produced Eternals plot point.
OmegaDaGrodd
OmegaDaGrodd - 1/13/2022, 11:26 AM
@HeraldNumber7 - Yep, now that I think about it showing him fighting a previous version of them would be a fun chance for Marvel to finally do a film version of the "the events of this issue occur prior to (insert comic name) issue # 91) though that would be a tough needle to thread
Hulkh8liars
Hulkh8liars - 1/13/2022, 12:18 PM
@HeraldNumber7 - gore will not kill any of the remaining eternals cast. He will die in one film. They will all be in at least one more film after he is dead

CamtonoOfBeskar

Not gonna lie, I just caught this for the first time on D+ it was better than I expected and far from the worst Marvel movie. Not when you have both Ant man movies, Thor 2, Iron Man 3, Black Widow and Captain Marvel out there.

I'm tired of Marvel's formula so this was a breath of fresh air to me. Hell I even thought it was more entertaining than No Way Home.

I saw it for the first time last night and I don’t know why people hated it. I liked a lot about it. The free will vs determinism angle was well done in my opinion. I actually don’t even know why people called it ambitious. It had its flaws for sure. It almost lost me at the 40 minute mark, it’s very long, and the jumping back and forth kind of messes up its pacing but I don’t know.. I liked it

Also people do anything for clout. Why the fck did she think it was a good idea to come out and say this? It’s your brother's job not to tell yo ass and the world but you wanna tease some shit like you’re the one in the movie… dumbass
