Coming off his mediocre performances in "Bullet to The Head" and "Conan", not many people would think that Jason Momoa should negotiate, or ask for an increase in pay when offered a role in a big budget feature film.
According to reports from Latino review, a credible, and reliable source in comic news. Jason Momoa has been screen-tested and is in negotiations with marvel to play Drax the Destroyer.
According to Borys Kit from The Hollywood Reporter, Jason Momoa has indeed screen tested for the part but has NOT been offered the role. In fact no offer has been given period.
But El Mayimbe is sticking to his report, tweeting that “Momoa is asking for DOUBLE the Marvel asking price for the role. He is the only one who flew to London to screen test.
Based on these reports many think he’s needs to take a step back and be thankful he’s being considered after the flops he’s been in. His first major lead role in 2011 Conan the Barbarian had a budget of $70 Million, but failed in the box office only grossing $21.3 Million, and being ranked as one of the worst reboot of all time. Momoa has stated in past interviews that he played the role of Conan correctly, but Directing and the script where to blame for the films failure.
His most recent film put him next to action great Sylvester Stallone in Bullet to the Head, where he played a killer mercenary. Momoa does carry a nasty screen presence, but nothing that would compare him to Dwayne Johnson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, or other action stars at the start of there film carrier.
If marvel does cave into his demands and pays him double what they are offering, it will be the first time they have done so, and be the start of Marvel not playing hard ball with actors for there films. This is the studio who dropped Terrence Howard and Edward Norton, then nearly dropped Mickey Rourke and Samuel L. Jackson. If Momoa succeeds it will be an accomplishment very few in his position can lay claim to.
So what do you think, will Marvel & James Gunn cave to Momoas demands? Or will he follow in the paths of other actors who have asked Marvel for to much? What do you think.
