FROM kinjamin (deviant art artist) himself here are his words that explain a new possible origin to one of Superman's nemesis: DOOMSDAY!!
"According to the book 'Man of Steel: Inside The Legendary World of Superman', the armor that Zod and Jor-El wear is fashioned from a type of animal bone. This inspired me to do a Doomsday piece since -let's face it- Doomsday's physical shtick is jagged bone. It made complete sense (to me anyway) The analogy here is that Doomsday is to Kal-el what a gigantic spiny murderous silverback gorilla would be to us.
I know it requires a few adjustments to Doomsday's origin, but I'm not even sure said origin has been intact the past few years after Infinite Crisis.
So you'll notice different bone regions on Doomsy is directly tied into specific armor pieces. (the forehead bone, for instance, is Jor-El's shoulder pad) -- Faora's knife is made from one of the knuckle bones.
One bit of irony I wanted to add in the dialogue (but had no room) was that Doomsday is currently being shackled by the remains of his dead brethren.
I just set-up MoS 3 for you, WB.... you're welcome."
