We all know that the Marvel Cinematic Univers is expanding. New places, new faces, all of that. We get chances to see characters that have appeared for years in the comics finally get a shot to appear on the big or small screen. Characters that have been in animated cartoons, video games, or even appeared as action figures and whatnot have a shot of appearing in the Cinematic Universe. And it's been quite a ride ever since we got our first glimpse of the world back in 2008 with Iron Man. And the ride is still going on. We have so much to look forward to, like Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, Daredevil season 2, Jessica Jones, and so much more.
Well, I've hand picked 6 characters that I think have a very good shot of appearing soon (well, 1 of them is going to be appearing soon.) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And I've also chosen actors/actresses to play the characters. So, without any further ado, here they are (even though you can probably guess who the characters are by the banner image,):
Actor I'd prefer to play the role:
Garrett Hedlund
I'm excited that Iron Fist is getting a Netflix series. I'm just pissed that we're hearing nothing about it. Anyway, I think Garrett Hedlund is the perfect choice for Danny Rand. I feel that he's got the charisma to play the rich, wealthy type. I know that he isn't trained in the martial arts, but he can be taught, can't he? I mean, it'd be cool if they used him actually really training as apart of a montage where they have him training as a young kid all they way up until he's a man. That'd be cool. Also, I think that Hedlund and Mike Colter would be awesome together as Iron Fist and Luke Cage. They'd be awesome in a
Heroes for Hire Netflix series. I think that they'd be able to play off of each other, and I think that he'd be able to work well in a team setting (for
The Defenders, of course.).
Character #2: Richard Rider/Nova
Actor I'd prefer to play the role: Dylan O'Brien
Since we know now that he won't be playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man, unfortunately, I think that Nova is right up his alley. I mean, since Nova was basically an amalgam of Spider-Man and the Green Lantern. But from what I've seen of him, I think that he'd do Nova justice. I know he can pull of the wise-cracking superhero that should be Nova. And picture this: In
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, Thanos attacks Xandar while searching for the Power Gem. He manages to deal some serious damage, resulting in Rhomann Dey being fatally wounded. Mustering what strength he has left, he manages to take a special Nova helmet with him, and makes it to an escape pod that's headed to Earth. What makes the Nova helmet special, you ask? Well, the Nova Corps have been using the Power Gem to experiment on and power Nova helmets. He only manages to grab one. So he lands on Earth, gives the helmet to Richard, and dies. Then in
Avengers: Infinity War Part 2, we get to see Nova in action after Richard finally decides to put on the helmet after a long while of debating whether he should put it on or not.
Character #3: Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider
Actor I'd prefer to play the role:
Charlie Hunnam
I feel like Ghost Rider would be handled better as a Netflix series. It would give more time to flesh out his story and get that awful Nicholas Cage version out of our minds. You know, I never thought that Nic Cage was right for Ghost Rider. But I found out who is: Charlie Hunnam. He already played a Johnny Blaze-like character in
Sons of Anarchy, and I feel that he would do a way better job than Nic Cage. I think he has the range to play a character like Johnny Blaze well.
Character #4: Marc Spector/Moon Knight
Actor I'd prefer to play the role:
Jake Gyllenhaal
Moon Knight is another character who I think would be more suited for a Netflix series. I actually heard rumors that he was one of the Netflix series that was going to be apart of Marvel/Netflix's Phase Two, so that's interesting (Even though those rumors were supposedly "debunked",). It's also cool that he was mentioned in
Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And I think that Jake Gyllenhaal is the right person to play him. He's proven himself to be a good actor, and doing this role would be kind of like his role in Nightcrawler. Well, at least for Moon Knight's origin, it's kind of like that. And he resembles Marc Spector (pictured above), so I think that's a bonus.
Character #5:
Eric Brooks/Blade
Actor I'd prefer to play the role:
Nate Parker
Blade is someone who I think deserves to be brought into the MCU. Probably not as a film, though. I think a Netflix series would be best for him. And I'm not really all for Wesley Snipes returning as Blade. Wait, before you flip out, just hear me out. Snipes was great as Blade, but it just wouldn't be fair, and plus, he's a bit too old now. If Snipes gets to come back, then Andrew Garfield should've came back as Spider-Man. Brandon Routh should have come back as Superman. Ryan Reynolds should come back as Hal Jordan. You get what I'm saying? And also, I'm not really that on board with Blade training his daughter and whatnot. I think Nate Parker should play Blade because he's proven himself to be a great actor, and I'm sure he's more than capable of giving us a good Blade.
And finally:
Character #6: Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman
Actress I'd prefer to play the role:
Jessica Lowndes
I was confused about who could use Spider-Woman, Sony or Marvel. Well, Marvel should've been able to, since she had stronger ties to S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra than she did with Spider-Man (well at least with the 616 version.) anyway. But it shouldn't matter now, since that deal has been made between Marvel and Sony. I think she'd be better suited for a Netflix series, because I think her backstory could be explored through the 13 episodes well. And it's interesting that she was another one of the 4 series that are supposed to be apart of Marvel/Netflix's Phase Two (again, even though they were supposedly "debunked",) And I think Jessica Lowndes is a pretty good actress, and I think she's got what it takes to bring Jessica Drew to life in a good way. And as a bonus, she looks like Jessica Drew, right down to the eye color. I think she's got what it takes to give us a good Spider-Woman.
Well, those are my hand-picked 6 characters, 5 of who could possibly be appearing soon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tell me what you guys think, and if you have your own suggestions, let me know down below!
