The film focuses on our main protagonist, Scott Lang, a former electrical engineer for SHIELD. When SHIELD falls after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Lang enlists his skills to the work of recently reformed Advanced Idea Mechanics. After Lang finds out the true doings of AIM, he plans on exposing their plans to the public. But once his daughter is kidnapped to ensure that he keeps his mouth shut, Lang tries to enlist the help of former SHIELD scientist, Henry Pym. When Pym refuses to help, Lang resorts to desperate means by stealing the Ant-Man suit. Thus begins Pym's search for his stolen suit, only to find that Lang is using it to save his daughter. That is just a short overview of what I believe the plot will be like, but now onto the fan cast.
Ant-Man/Scott Lang - Paul Rudd
When news broke that Paul Rudd would play Ant-Man, I instantly fell in love with the idea for this movie. Rudd is one of my favorite comedic actors and I absolutely love him in films such as Anchorman and Role Models. I think he has the acting chops to pull off a franchise hero, and eventually stand toe to toe with the rest of the Avengers.
Ant-Man/Hank Pym - Michael Douglas
I still am unsure as to how I feel about casting an older Hank Pym. I really wanted both Pym and Janet Van Dyne to show up in Avengers 2, but it looks like we may get neither or just The Wasp. Anyways Michael Douglas is a great actor and will provide some much need prestige to this film.
1960’s Ant-Man/Hank Pym - Patrick Wilson
Now onto my actual first choice as Hank Pym when I heard news that Ant-Man was coming in 2015. I think that Patrick Wilson is the perfect guy to play the sometimes jerk who always tries to do the right thing. I see his character being used in flashbacks, to either the 60's or 70's depending on how old they want to make present day Pym. I also think that a young Pym will have some sort of input on the building of Ultron.
Janet Van Dyne/Wasp - Evangeline Lilly
The love interest to Scott Lang. I don't like the idea of Janet being Pym's daughter, but I could see her working as an assistant to Pym. My feeling is that Pym will have Janet go after his Ant-Man suit, which will then form a relationship between Lang and Van Dyne. I don't know Lilly from anything besides the newest Hobbit film, but I loved her character in that film. She could defiantly hold her own against the big boys on the Avengers.
Cassie Lang - Elle Fanning
Cassie will have a pivotal role in this film, and possibly be set up for future expansions of the character. I went with Fanning because I felt she is the perfect choice to play the early teen Cassie, and she also has quite a bit of acting under her belt at such a young age.
Chen Lu/Radioactive Man - Wang Xueqi
Last seen in certain cuts of Iron Man 3, Chen Lu is the doctor that removed the arc reactor from Tony's heart. I could see Dr. Lu being recruited by AIM and eventually transform into the main adversary of the film, Radioactive Man. Lu would be used in the climatic battle between himself and both Lang and Van Dyne.
AIM Scientist Supreme - Michael Pena
The head scientist for AIM, Pena would be more comedic that the rest of the villians. Michael Pena is a great comedic and serious actor who can pull both of great in the same film. Possibly his best performance to date in End of Watch, shows both off perfectly. I also want to see the AIM scientist in full bucket head form.
David Cannon/Whirlwind - Matt Gerald
Previously seen in the Marvel One Shot: All Hail the King, Matt Gerald played White Power Dave. In the film Dave, real name David Cannon, has escape during the breakout of Trevor Slatterly. He volunteers to be a part of an experiment for AIM which promises him more money than he could imagine. He then becomes the Whirlwind. He will be the first adversary that Lang faces during the second act when he tries to take out AIM by himself.
