The Batman Fancast

My idea for a cast to the upcoming 2016 reboot "The Batman".

Synopsis: In the second year of his career as the Batman, Bruce Wayne is struggling to discover who he is and what needs to be done for Gotham, while the city views him with suspicion and hostility. Edward Nigma, CEO of Wayne Enterprises rival NigmaCorp is secretly a dangerous crime boss, and is moving to overthrow the other factions in Gotham and rule an empire from within the city.

Michael Fassbender as Bruce Wayne and the Batman

Credits include: Shame, Prometheus

Many people are saying that he is overused and unoriginal. My reply to that would be that he is overused for a reason because he is an exceptional actor. He digs deep into character personas and can latch on to the darker areas of a character and their issues, something important for Bruce Wayne who is a flawed and broken man.

Sean Bean as Lieutenant James Gordon

Credits include: Lord of the Rings, Sharpe

Sean Bean is a great actor, he can portray both heroes and villains well, and I feel he could convey the brotherhood between Gordon and the Batman, yet at the same time hold suspicion and possible hostility towards this vigilante stalking his city.

Eva Green as Victoria "Vicki" Vale

Credits include: Casino Royale, Camelot

Miss Green is a striking actress, who can hold a great performance in her eyes alone. She could play the sheer determination of Vicki to uncover her story on corruption, as well as the desire and attraction to the mysterious wraith known as the Batman.

Ewan McGregor as Edward Nigma

Credits include: Trainspotting, Beginners

Ewan McGregor has this innocence about him, he looks like a decent nice guy, yet can convey a very sinister character at heart. This would make him very well suited to Nigma, an intelligent man who acts as a respectable CEO of a corporation all the while moonlighting as a dangerous crime boss.

Hugh Laurie as Alfred Pennyworth

Credits include: House, A Bit of Fry and Laurie

Able to carry the humor and real world view through all of the madness, as well as the father figure and mentor role, Hugh Laurie would be able to handle the lighthearted scenes as well as more mature and dark plots.

Ron Perlman as Mr. Bane (voice)

Credits include: Sons of Anarchy, Hellboy

Ron Perlman has that rough, sinister, calculating tone to his voice that would fit well with Bane, right hand man and personal hit man to Nigma. Bane's face shouldn't be seen, his face always covered by a helmet, so a stunt double would be better for the actual body and then Perlman for the voice only.

Odette Annable as Detective Renee Montoya

Credits include: Cloverfield, House

A good actress who could convey the idealism that everything can turn out alright, even when things get worse than ever. Her character could also reference the character of Kate Kane, perhaps leading to an appearance or possible Batwoman spin-off.

Zachary Quinto as Jack Napier

Credits include: Star Trek, Heroes

A down on his luck family man who is destined for tragedy, Quinto can play the good guy that is struggling with personal demons as well as the eventual madness and evil that is to come later.

Maisie Williams as Barbara Gordon

Credits include: Game of Thrones

A capable young actress, she has shown that she has the potential to convey more to her than what appears.

No to MICHAEL FASSBENDER.
BRUCE WAYNE is not a flawed, broken man.
He's THE BATMAN! Scourge of the bad guys!
Where did people get the idea he's flawed & broken?

To COMMISSIONER GORDON BATMAN is not a VIGILANTE!
He has a BAT-SYGNAL SKYLIGHT to summon BATMAN when
he's needed. Why would GORDON have a BAT-SIGNAL
if BATMAN is a VIGILANTE he is hostile towards???
BATMAN is his friend!

BATMAN is a superhero who fights super-powered
villains. He's a member of THE JUSTICE LEAGUE.
He's not a villain vigilante himself!

VICKI VALE is a strawberry blond, EVA GREEN would not
look good as a reddish blond.

HUGH LAURIE is too young for ALFRED PENNYWORTH.
Way too young!

BANE is no one's henchman! He is the main man!
He's got a SPANISH accent. He's from SOUTH AMERICA!

Damn, I hate NOLAN!
He ruined BANE!

BANE broke THE BAT, he's no one's BITCH, HENCHMAN!

This is not a BATMAN reboot, just another fricked-up
NOLAN BATMAN!

Love the cast man! Very original!

@DDD- Fassbender could play any version of Batman easily. He's too perfect for the role.

@DDD No one has ever said he was flawed and broken. Your just a [frick]ed up mad fan boy.

Who gives a god damn [frick] if bane's from south america. These are his ideas, you don't need to shit on them. Just agree to disagree. Damn, i haven't said that since kindergarten. See what you make me do!

I personally think that Fassbender is a great Choice for a Batman film. Some of the other actors i'd have to see to believe though, but hey Nolan made us say the same thing.

@DDD If you are a child and you witness both your parents killed right before your eyes, then grow up alone with that void in you, that emptiness, and then you go out at night dressed like a bat, you have to be a little flawed and broken at heart. Batman is a vigilante, he may not kill, but he does take the law into his own hands to protect others, he is a vigilante. Gordon may admire him, but obviously at first he is going to be suspicious towards a man dressed like a bat stalking the streets. As for Bane, my idea was he would appear to be the loyal right hand man to Nigma, the brawn to Nigma's brain, but then the twist near the end of the film would be that Bane is the true mastermind and betrays Nigma and takes his empire for his own.

@NightAvenger Thank You :)

@DDD
And I'm sick of you trolling the fan casts. You can voice your opinion, but stop acting like all of the choices are dumb and wrong. I like the picks, I don't like all of them though. But I'm not gonna put my caps lock on and start going on and on about how terrible the choices were. So go back to your sad life as a middle aged man who lives in his mother's basement, and keep the crap to yourself.

Thank you very much...

@DentonKnight
Love your point about Fassbender, he would be a fantastic Batman! I don't know why everyone keeps beotchng about him.

@DDD, stop being a douche

as for the douche I have seen Fassbender so many times I've grown tired of it but I'm not saying it's bad...

Don't like Quinto for Napier

Other than that I like your cast

Rate: 7.5-8/10

@DDD, man I agree with some of your comments about Bane and Batman, and I want say that I hate Nolan too, hope he will never be back as producer of Batman films.

I'm probably the only who'll defend DDD, maybe because I consider him a friend. He's a stickler for faithful comic book movie adaptations. He just wants to see something done perfectly. That's why he either hates or is not a fan of the Nolan movies because they take basic concepts of the comics and create something entirely new. So please, don't judge a book by its cover. He's actually a really cool guy once you get to know him.

The cast is a mixed bag...Some are good, some are off in my opinion. I don't get the appeal to Fassbender, but I can see why many do like him, I guess. But, overall decent cast :)

Now, I am with @MrBlueSky.
Calm down everyone. He wasn't "trolling". DDD has never trolled, and in fact he has said he hates trolls. He was stating his opinion, and how he views Batman. It has been proven that almost EVERYONE views Batman in a different way. I view him as a prick, a douche, an asshole, and many other terrible things. But that does not mean someone else views him as a hero, or even flawed and broken down. We are entitled to an opinion, and even deserve one. Like MrBlueSky said, try not to judge him based off of a comment about how HE views Batman.
DDD
DDD - 8/18/2012, 7:18 AM
I was not trolling!

Just giving my honest opinion.
If you can't stand the heat don't come in the kitchen!

All the things I said are correct!

BATMAN is a driven man, that's for sure!
He saw his his parents killed by a murderous criminal
in a corrupt city.
But it did not break him! Instead he dedicated his life
to learning martial arts and how to detect and solve
crimes to fight crime in his beloved city, GOTHAM.

He believes in the law, the uncorrupted law!
That is the BATMAN I grew up with.
He is not a lawless vigilante.

He is a SUPERHERO, part of a SUPERHERO GROUP.
He believes so much in fighting corruption that he even
watches the other SUPERHEROES to see if they ever go bad
so that he can stop them!

He is the ultimate COP/DETECTIVE!
That is why GORDON is friends with him.
GORDON is an incorruptible COP!
GORDON trusts him.

Of course that is not NOLAN'S BATMAN.
BATMAN BEGINS was still BATMAN but NOLAN went
off the trolly starting with THE DARK KNIGHT.
Then BATMAN became a person who is bent and ruined!
I'm not the only one saying this.
A lot of professional people have said this.

NOLAN'S BATMAN beat the crap out of the JOKER in
jail, of all places! BATMAN would never do that,
not in a million years! That was totally out of
BATMAN'S character. NOT like the BATMAN in BATMAN
begins AT ALL.

I know I am correct and I won't back down.

I will always tell the truth in my comments.
I give points to why some actors are not right for
a certain character.

I am not a troll and you all know it!

I only use capitals, by the way, for characters and
actor's names and to emphasize words.

Fancasts have a correct way to be done.
With art and production and writing.
They are an article on CBM.COM.
They should be done correctly and according to formula.

Fancasts should be art that is worked at.
That is all I look at when commenting on a Fancast.

I have been on this site for a long, long time and have
done tons of Fancasts with work and art, quality Fancasts.

The Fanfic needs to live up to a high standard!
so many Fancasts with

DDD
DDD - 8/18/2012, 7:22 AM
Whoops, I don't know where that statement...
"so many Fancasts with" came from.
Disregard it.

Man I miss the edit button!
DDD
DDD - 8/18/2012, 7:31 AM
By the way, I truly like FASSBENDER as an actor!
He is an amazing and accomplished thespian.

But he shouldn't be used for BATMAN, in my honest opinion.
He is too old-looking and doesn't look like BRUCE WAYNE.
I am judging from a standpoint of logic.

He was perfect for a younger MAGNETO, with the gravitas to
perform them Master of Magnetism.

But he has been used to death here at CBM.COM for roles
he doesn't fit, for EVERY DANG ROLE!

I believe he would be a waste as BATMAN. He would be
better as a scary powerful BATMAN villain.
DDD
DDD - 8/18/2012, 8:47 AM
But this is the last time I will comment on BATMAN
on this site!
Don't worry you'll hear no more from me about
BATMAN!

I see now that this is not a free site anymore
and people can't say their piece about BATMAN.

Or comment against anything NOLAN.

By the way, I own my own partnership LOUDSPEAKER
business, we manufacture surround sound speaker systems.
I am the artist/designer. Plus I'm also a technician
and work on crossovers (capacitors. coils,etc.).
I design cabinets and how the speakers look on the
outside.

So I don't live in my mother's basement.
My mother and father are both dead!

I live in my own place with a speaker system that costs
thousands of dollars and a very expensive top
of the line home theater system!

Cretins!

Juveniles!

jerks!

Ok, getting a little heated here. Sorry if fancast offends anyone, I wasn't going for Nolan Batman, or Burton Batman, or Comic Batman, I was going for my own idea of Batman. Again sorry if it's offended anyone :(

Oh my god there is just a bunch of little hissy fits going on this fancast isnt there?

Wow sorry I missed the party

Well if I might just comment on the fancast itself briefly

I really like a lot of what youve done here

I think it would be refreshing to see Batman a bit more as a vigilante and Fassbender no doubt would be amazing as Bruce

I like Bean as Gordon and I like Gordon as a bit more skeptical of batman but its a really great dynamic between the two so I would make him a little concerned with Batmans motives but always side with him in the end

I think Eva Green is crazy hot and would be good as Vale

And i think the rest of your cast is pretty damn good

Nice work man
