What I'd like To See For The Justice League Movie And What I Dont Want To See

Let me just start off this by saying i love both marvel and dc while i do love marvel just a little bit more than dc i still think dc has some great and interesting characters quite a few of which are my favourite fictional characters.

So with last weeks news that the justice league is set for a 2015 release date the same year as the avengers 2 ive decided to share some of my thoughts on it what i think they should do and what i think they should'nt do.

The first thing i think the justice league movie needs to nail which is one of the most important things if not the most important thing is the tone. The tone for this movie can't be dark and grim with the exception of batman the justice league are a group of colourful mostly lighthearted superheroes with immense power treat them that way the tone needs to be light and colourful like the avengers but done in a way that distances itself from the avengers it can have its moments of darkness just as long as the light outweighes it.

Secondly apparently superman batman and wonder woman are going to be the main characters in the movie i think this is a bad idea mainly because i dont want the rest of the league to just simply be background characters to the other 3 if the one thing the avengers done excellently was give each and every character there defined personality and there big moment you could argue that hawkeye got shafted but even he got his big moment you can give superman batman and wonder woman a bit more screen time then the rest in the same way cap and iron man did in the avengers but give everyone else there distinct personality and moment.

Thirdly and lastly is the story ive heard rumours that the main threat could be white martians and that is a really bad idea because that is just way to close to the avengers an alien invasion with ties to one of the heroes (thor with loki and the chitauri). one thing i think it needs is show a good way for how the heroes meet up in the movie i dont just want to see superman fighting and then all of a sudden batman turns up that would be just plain lazy. one thing they could do is maybe even set the movie a few years after the league is formed so the characters already know each other i dont want to see how these people met it will take up to much screen time and it will ultimatly sacrifice characters

anyway there's my opinion on what i want to see in the justice league movie let me know what you guys think and try and be respectful

@SotoJuiceMan when i say light i dont mean in a camp and yes i do and when wonder woman did that batman and superman rejected her and the characters are light with the exception of batman and kingdom come is written by mark wadi who openly says he writes light hearted stuff and them being the main characters in the justice league animated works because they get 12 to 22 30 min episodes once a week they only got one shot with this movie. And if they focus completely on just superman batman wonder woman then the rest of the league will be nothing more than guys in costumes who help out them 3 when the threat is too large to handle. Maybe them could trim the league down to just batman superman wonder woman the flash and green lantern then

WTF. JLA needs to be dark first off. Secondly white martians are a way to introduce Martian Manhunter and would seem NOTHING like Avengers. And last off without Superman and Batman and Wonder Woman being the main characters the movie would suck. Script wise, filmography wise and box office wise. Iron Man Thor and Captain America were the most famous and the leaders so they're gonna be the main characters. That's like making a movie called Superman where Jimmy Olsen is the main character.

@LEVITIKUZ not really someone added up everyone's screen time and cap and iron man got like 6 mins more screen time then the rest there wasnt really a main character they all where they all got there moment everyone knew each characters personality and if theyre gsincere make batman superman and ww the main focus then why not just make a trinity movie instead and since when did I say anything about source material? I said I wanted to see each character be defined and get there moment that's what made the avengers work

@SotoJuiceMan the avengers did it much better than x-men almost everyone gets shafted for wolverine especially cyclops in all 3 and storm until the third one and dude they're all there because of Loki everyone gets there moment in the avengers Cap and iron man get a bit more screen time because they're the selling point

Maaaaaan... I'm gonna be THAT guy.
You really need to put some effort into your grammar, punctuation, and spelling. It's hard to read at times, however short. Also, don't be afraid to expand on your ideas and what you WANT to see. Present them as actual concepts, not just complaining about rumors.

That said, I'm all for a lighter tone. I'm tired of "dark and gritty" being the aspiration. It's like fans are trying to find a movie to impress their big brother with.

Take the Flash, for instance. If there's any character guaranteed to be appearing, it's him, and for the first time alongside Wonder Woman. You can't make Flash dark on his first outing. It would be the biggest mistake.

But let's define our terms of "dark".
Are we talking The Dark Knight where our cast gazes into the abyss and the abyss gazes also? Or are we talking bleak, like Dredd, where the title character is something of an anti-villain cast in the role of an anti-hero? Or will it be grim, like Watchmen where every act is dismal and features death and loss?

None of these tones are befitting a Justice League movie.

@tainted87 my spelling and grammar are fine usually but I'm on an iPad which is just annoying. Thank you for the advice and the lighter tone is the way to go especially if superman is the leader

I think they should all get equal screen time, just like X-Men and Avengers, I think in order to make this movie work 1. A great Joss whedon style director 2. Some fantastic actors 3. Generally equal screen time 4. you would have to at some point put Superman in serious jeopardy and have him almost die or something, cuz when I read JLA comics, they never seem real intense like they should be cuz it's like "oh, the heroes are in trouble oh no! Eh... It's ok cuz they have an INVINCIBLE MAN on their team" so the audience needs to feel that the threat is serious and that Superman is not invincible, and that even he is threatened by it. 5. Humanize the heroes, Marvel does that sl

Alot, like Superman should crush on WW and be insecure about the way she feels about him, at the same time WW should be a fiery hothead and Flash should be the humorous fun lover, Batman should be the dark and held back type, while Aquaman should be an arrogant king/prince, and MMH should be lonely and depressed, and they should make GL a serious military guy, 6. Make the villain hardcore, I don't wanna see Despero or The Joker or somebody, the villain had to be somebody like Darkseid or Brainiac or someone, a villain that actually poses a threat, 7. Avoid aliens at all costs, to avoid avenger comparisons...

8. Use MMH NOT CYBORG!! 9. Downplay the powers of Aquaman that get made fun of (talking to fish) and seriously play up his really cool powers that the general public doesent know about (bulletproof skin) 10. the characters have to rely on each other, this is the most important one cuz, if they don't rely on each othe the audience will be like "yeah it's cool, but if they can save the world by themselves why do they need a team, this goes especially for Superman,, seeing as most of us see him as invincible.

Justice League is certainly not light hearted. It would work extremely well as a darker, more somber film than Avengers. The team consists of characters who are far more burdened than anyone in the Avengers film - you have Superman, who literally has the whole world resting on his shoulders, Batman, a hero with no powers but an unbreakable determination and passion for justice, Wonder Woman, a warrior princess and ambassador for a mysterious land that is governed by gods, Green Lantern is an intergalactic police officer/adventurer (and possibly the first human to see outerspace in that way), Aquaman is the king of a lost underwater kingdom, Martian Manhunter is the last survivor of his species following a civil war against the other martian species on his planet and is banished from his home... If anything the only 'light-hearted' league member is The Flash, and even he's had his own fair share of tragedy (like his Dad being imprisoned, perhaps wrongly, for his Mother's murder).

In fact, I'd even say to leave MMH until the sequel and just focus on Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, and Aquaman. Those characters link together very well, Superman, WW, and Aquaman represent the very powerful and authoritative heroes, while Batman, Flash, and GL are all sort of linked to police and traditional law enforcement. MMH has ties to both, but he's not entirely needed at this point, but the six other characters also all have strong ties to Earth, which MMH doesn't have until he gets there.

If they did a post-credit scene in the film, I think that'd be a good time to introduce Martian Manhunter.

@ACira superman is a light character he represents hope and what people should be striving to be. making the movie dark and gritty isn't going to work especially if you're trying to appeal to an all ages audience like the avengers and have something for everyone they need to get the tone of the justice league animated shows

@SotoJuiceMan so you're saying cos I like marvel a bit more because I like about 2 more characters then dc I'm by no means a marvel fanboy or hardcore and I actually i want the justice league to be different from the avengers. You're making out like I only like marvel completely and I can't have an opinion on the justice league movie I hope is better than the avengers you're basically saying if you like marvel over dc even it's its just a little bit they can't have an opinion on the justice league movie fair enough you clearly know more about dc and what to with the justice league than me but you don't have to nasty man

@ sotojuicefan
Im a marvel fan, and an avengers fan, but i dont want JLA to be like Avengers, truthfully they are quite different teams, the only thing that should be the same is the heroes reliance on each other.and the equality of screen time, and JLA is generally light, because there's really no threat to them cuz they have an invincible warrior, thts why they should put Superman is some serious life threatening danger, to darken it and show that the villains poses a SERIOUS threat if he nearly killed Superman.

I agree with Sotojuice man. By the way, dark and gritty is the wrong word. They should have a certain psychological realism to them, like what Man Of Steel and Batman Begins went for. They should´t be two dimensional toy commercials like The Avengers characters. And by the way just cause something has a real world feel to it, doesn´t mean it has to be dark and humorless. There is plenty of light, fun and humor in the world. It just depends on how it presented. But anyway more realistic characters are needed, with more depth and layers, that´s what´s important to me.

Avengers are not toy characters, they are more realistic than JLA, in case you never noticed JLA characters look silly together, in fact let's look at the six Avengers in the movie and the most likely six JLA characters,

1. Ironman
A tech guy who built his own suit of armor using science.

2. Captain America
The product of a scientific experiment (basically steroids) that gave him the height of human ability.

3. The Hulk
The result of a science experiment using a gamma bomb going wrong .

4. Black Widow
A stellar assassin.

5. Thor
A mystical interdimensional being

6. Hawkeye
An amazing archer.

JLA

1. Superman
An alien who's planet got blown up, so he came to earth.

2. Wonder Woman
An Amazonian princess gifted by the gods. (I think)

3. Batman
A millionaire who built his suit to fight crime (like Ironman)

4. Aquaman
The prince of Atlantis.

5. Green Lantern
The one who wears a mystical alien ring that gives him powers.

6. The Flash
The result of a science experiment that went wrong and gave him the ability to run super fast.

So 5 out of 6 (not Thor) Avengers got where they are by science or by skill, that believable, 4 out of 6 (not bats and flash) JLA members got their power from a mystical other world.... So whats more believable science? Or gods and fantasy? I'm just saying don't diss the Avengers man, btw I'm not dissing JLA, I'm just saying which is more believable.
