More From Chris Evans And Robert Downey Jr. On CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

While the extensive press tour for Avengers: Age of Ultron is slowly coming to a close, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and many other stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are gearing up for the much-anticipated Captain America: Civil War, which officially starts filming on Monday, April 27. During multiple interviews, the Captain America and Iron Man actors talked a bit about how The Avengers sequel sets the stage for the 2016 follow-up, as well as what causes the two superhereos to fall-out. “Morality hits Tony, humanity hits Tony,” said Evans in a joint interview with Downey. “All of a sudden he feels responsible. Neither one of them are blindly convicted. It’s blurry and that’s what makes it great. No one’s right, no one’s wrong.” Robert then added, “It’s going to make it even harder for them to come to an agreement, which I’m really excited about.”

About the rift between Captain America and Iron Man in Civil War, Chris Evans says, “It’s like a marriage: We love each other but it’s explosive. You’re working toward the same goal but you have very different approaches to it.” Meanwile, Robert Downey Jr., is glad to finally explore that rift as opposed to teasing it in the Avengers movies. “I’m really stoked to see when we have more stuff to actually do together besides like act like we’re about to have a fight one day,” he said.

During a separate appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman show, Robert Downey Jr. had talked a bit more about Civil War while adding credence that Marvel's Spider-Man will make an appearance. “Well, it’s called Civil War, and there was a strain of comics where Captain America and Iron Man, they went on different sides, and they fought each other,” explained the Iron Man star. “I wouldn't call either of them evil, [but they want control.]" When Letterman had asked will Iron Man win, Downey said reiterated that it's called Captain America: Civil War, and that “I'm gonna go start shooting that in a couple weeks.” Asked if Spider-Man will appear, which has been all but confirmed, Downey replied, “He may well be... Yeah, I hear that they’re looking to cast a new Spider-Man.” Finally, Downey was asked who would the audience root for in the 2016 movie, to which he replied, “That’s up to the people,” before pointing to himself. What do you think?

Marvel Studios' Captain America: Civil War is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. With an all-star cast that includes Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Frank Grillo (Crossbones), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), and Daniel Brühl (Baron Zemo), along with unconfirmed appearances by Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Paul Bettany (Vision), and Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), the highly-anticipated film is scheduled to open in theaters on  May 6, 2016.

I'm so mad about these Age of Ultron spoilers. I think we (those of us who can't handle them) should do fasting this year to avoid them.

we shall see how this gonna end up. More serious Tony Stark please. Just like in IM3. Just make a script better this time around.

@JokerEl I dont think is a rip off, Marvel had announced like a year or two ago that they had everything planned all the way to 2021 or some year around that.

@jerryblake

If it's under the Russos they'll still have the humor but in no way will he be as lighthearted as he was in films like IM2 and IM3. I think we'll see the Iron Man 1 Stark return but in a more troubled state of mind.

Sources have said Bucky is apart of the rift as a Cap wants to help him reclaim his humanity and be a hero and Tony wants to condemn him for his Hydra work and killing of his parents

Does anyone else think it kinda sucks knowing all the movie slates in advance? I mean, yeah, I like cheering for the cool announcements, but it takes away from the current movie, ya know? That's why I couldn't get into DoFP that much. The ending was supposed to be all happy and cool, but we had already found out that Apocalypse is going to be set in the 80s. Now we know who will and won't die in it, for the most part. Same thing with Marvel movies. No sense of threat toward Thor, Cap, Iron Man, or whoever because they've all been announced to be in future films.

BP will have his own agenda which is what sources have saId. I can see him investigating the avengers before confronting them like he did in the Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated series. he wants answers about the breach of Wakanda in AOU and he studies the team and analyzes them. I want a scene where he single handedly takes them all out except Cap, who's his equal in terms of combat, strategy and tactics. They come to a standstill. BP respects Cap tok. Maybe he's heard stories of how Cap aided his father and or grandfather in ww2. BP revealing himself to them thrust hik right into civil war and his country is unearthed and revealed

We live in a time where the Internet and media allows for spoilers to be prevalent all the time. Spoilers are inescapable and that will never change. It sucks but we will always know the new slate of films. Its now about the movies hiding any BIG secrets that they can keep hidden to keep fans somewhat surprised and also we just have to enjoy seeing the spoilers visually. We may know what's coming but to see it visually even after reading the spoiler is still a great surprise

I watched Age of Ultron yesterday and it was amazing! It's really better (personal feelings including me and my wife excluded) than the first one! Ultron was a beast and also really funny. James Spader really nails him.

I'm in denial and I can't belive of something that happened in the movie BTW.

I LOL when people suggest that including more characters in this movie is "shoehorning" them in. By that logic, when you add an extra character in a movie based on a series about all of the Marvel heroes going to war with each other, it's "shoehorning" them in. Wut? I don't understand that criticism at all. If they decided not to overload movie and only went with like 2-3 heroes, people would complain that it wasn't grand enough.

@TheRationalNerd

not exacly in a vein of IM1 but rather Civil War comic book. Also he should start to drink after the CW.

I feel like his alcoholism may factor somewhat into Civil war. Not heavy drinking, but maybe the film showcases it somewhat, he's drinking to cope with what's happened. Then the world govts give him a shot at redemption to be the poster boy and spearhead the Superhero Registration Act. They need his resources and know how to combat Cap and his squad as well as to access the reveal of Wakanda and what theyve been hiding. And Bucky. I feel like the world govts want him bad. Hydra has been mostly desposed of by the avengers and bucky is the last piece. They'd want him for the crimes he's committed and whatever information he may have about any hydra secrets he may know willingly or without even knowing. Cap wants to protect his friend and help him find peace

@yingyangpalms, given the backlash, I initially thought that they called ScarJo herself was a slut. I was blown away by how big of a deal it became when someone called a fictional character a slut. If I wrote a character who was a slut, am I not allowed to call her a slut? Now we have extreme left-wingers waving the flag for fictional character's rights. I don't want to live in this world anymore.

I'm really interested to see how they draw the lines in this movie. I feel like not many people will be rooting for Stark after AOU. I feel like they'll have a couple fan favorites on his side. I wouldn't be surprised if BW ended up on Stark's side, and I think Lang (if he's included) will be on Stark's side too. I just hope they don't force the audience to think of one side being right and one side being wrong. That's what was so great about reading Civil War. You were constantly rethinking things to figure out who you were rooting for and you had characters on both sides that you liked.
