Mark Millar On Josh Trank's FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot

Here's hoping it falls apart and the rights revert to Didney.

I think FF is probably the toughest major superhero comic to make work on film. There's such a fine line they have to balance on between epic sci-fi and light family humor.

That said, I don't forgive Tim Story for dropping the ball. He effed up virtually every decision. I know Fox forced Jessica Alba on him, but with everything else the buck stops at the director. Why on Earth they let him do a second I can't imagine. (Or picked him in the first place...)

I wonder: origin story with younger actors, or start with the FF as an established, world-famous superfamily? I'd go with the latter if I were making the movie. Imagine George Clooney as Reed Richards! Justin Timberlake as Johnny? No, really. Think about it.

Nope. I still remain skeptical of this 'cause it's Fox and they hadn't much luck with CBMs. I'm still hoping that this film either ends up having too much re-writes and the production starts delaying, or things don't work out with the studio and the rights go straight back to Marvel and THEN we'll have the epic FF than Fox's ones. So again, here's to hoping this all falls apart and it goes straight back to Marvel.

I ain't going to lie, I like some of Mark Miller stuff. I even liked some of his F4 work like: World's Greatest, Ultimate F4: Crossover, UF4: Frightful. That being said, I wasn't to fond of Ultimates. Plus the fact that FOX wanted him as a creative consultant for their Marvel movies, did very little to get me excited.

Also that article awhile back about his favorite movies in 2012 showed that he was doing some ass kissing and being a little stupid.

@LEVIT - Like I told peeps in the chat, it's all talk with Fox and Reynolds, but no walk--no action being taken. They keep saying of how close they'll keep it to the material, the "R-rating" it'll have 'cause of the action, blood, gore, etc., and whatnot. But I think it's because Fox is too d@mn busy with the X-Men and Wolverine films, that they'll keep Deadpool off to the side and keeping saying excuses and sh!t to make it look like they're doing something of the film. :/

If there is some way for Fox to screw this up, the WILL find it. That's what they do.

I hope they put the Fantastic Four in the 60s, make the entire Fox Marvel Cinematic Universe (Im calling it FMCU for short) exist in the silver era of the comics.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe can exist in the 21st century grounded world with grounded characters (well as grounded as you can get with Hulk and aliens running around), the FMCU in the 20th century and the potential DCCU in a grounded world with larger than life god-like superheroes with relatable civilian alter egos



Oh and NO CROSSOVERS WITH THE MCU, its obvious in the MCU, that superpowered people have only started appearing in the 21st century, judging by Nick Fury's comments. In the X-Men universe, people are starting to find out about them in the 60s. Plus I dont want Fox tainting the Marvel Cinematic Universe with its poor continuity. MCU has perfect continuity (apart from where the hell was Iron Man during the Incredible Hulk, but thats the only continuity problem I have)

I'm only asking for an at least proper Dr. Doom. He's my favorite comic book villain - along with the Four being my favorite comic book team, actually - but there's no CBM character butchery as big as the Dr. Doom we saw before. OK, maybe George Clooney's Batman, Schawrzenegger's Mr. Freeze, but...ah, you get my point.

Did he just compare fantastic for to Alien?!?! Come on , gimme a break , fantastic four isn't worthy to be spoken in the same sentence as Ridley Scott's Alien.

I though Chronicle sucked - sorry. If this make this more of a Alines space / extradimensional epic I think it would be cool. Rush the origin - we all know it - and get to something cool.

@Bojac You sure you want that? If this movie flops and the rights go back to Disney they will do [frick]-all with them as why would they invest time and money in a film franchise they don't see as profitable?

why cant we just let this movie die! let the rights revert back to MARVEL so we can get a good version of the Fantastic 4! one that as the opportunity to join The Avengers

I am curious as to what makes people think Trank can write and direct a traditional feature film project. Chronicle was a shaky hand held camera job with a derivative plot. Are the people who directed Blair Witch Project or Paranormal Activity lighting Hollywood on fire?
