Conan to be a trilogy and possible headed for a christmas release as a 3D film

Conan actor Saïd Taghmaoui best known for his performance in the "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" gave some detail about "Conan going" to 3D and a possible Christmas release, as well as mentions the film is the first of a planned trilogy.

Saïd Taghmaoui talked to Premiere magazine and thanks to conanmovieblog.com they have translated the interview and uploaded it to their site.

"I think it will be for December. It’s something huge"

"I had the luck and honor to participate in this extraordinary adventure. They called me, they offered me the part. It’s just very pleasant, you know. Being acknowledged like that helps you to build yourself as an human being. "

"You can expect a Conan revisited in 3D, a little bit like 300. A little bit harder, with fights more violent and special effects a little bit more crazy. It will be very interesting."

"is a trilogy, and my character…if there’s a Conan 2, I’ll be there."

Conan also stars Stephen Lang(Avatar), Rachel Nichols(G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra), Rose McGowan(Machete), Bob Sapp(Elektra) and Jason Momoa in the title role.

I'd just like to give thanks to the conanmovieblog.com for being such a reliable site which always gets the scoop with Conan(even scoopin Variety).

Seems fast.....and 3D??? Really???

I have nothing but faith that Mamoa can carry this role, but i'll be damned if Nispel doesn't have me worried as hell. Moving away from the gloomy look of Pathfinder toward a more vibrant and gritty style like 300 is a cool idea, just don't know if Nispel is a strong enough director/editor to pull it off.

He does have a good eye tho, so.....fingers crossed...

Yeah and even bigger problem is that Lionsgate is run by Morons.

@ Sweetre15: looks like FOX had to many and gave some to Lionsgate just to mess with them. :))

this Christmas? in a real world that would not be possible. It takes quite some tome to get through post, and I belive they are still filming. But since this is not the real world, it's Hollywood, we should expect the unexpected.

A trilogy? cool, but they should focus on this movie first. get it right so you get the chance to move onto the second one. If only more people would think like Nolan does, we would get more franchises, with good movies comprising them.

That picture of Conan on the horse is promising. That looks more like the real Conan than Arnold did. I think his voice and the script will make or break it more than his looks.

@LEEE & Antz

Thanx fellas, but the props go to leray93, he posted them a few days ago...

@BmanHall

In a translated interview the director said the film would be "Hard-R" and Uber-Violent...

@telavizion

He actually does look like Conan, he just does't look like Ahh-nold.....but that's cool, cuz Ahh-nold didn't look ANYTHING like Conan...

Oh and don't listen to LEEE, Momoa was the best part of Stargate: Atlantis (next to Dr. McKay <--- that dude is awesome). He has an immense amount of charisma and TONS of experience on TV......that and he is INSANE with a sword!!!

Momoa did not suck on Stargate Atlantis. :-P

Trilogy would make sense as they are going for a young Conan. It gives him time to build and grow into the role more and put on a little more mass as he gets older, though I personally don't want to see him get much bigger. It just may appease some of the haters.

"A little bit harder, with fights more violent and special effects a little bit more crazy."... me likey!
