This Hornet only stings himself!

I am a big fan of The Green Hornet since I was a kid where I used to argue with some other kids that the TV series of the 60s was cooler than Batman back then.

I wouldn't dare to do that nowadays.

The main problem with the Green Hornet is that you hardly care for the main character played by Seth Rotgen who behaves as a jerk throughout the whole film. Now, if you check the history of The Green Hornet since 1936, this superhero is tough with criminals and always know what to do when the going gets tough and as Britt Reid is debonair.

The villain (Chudnofsky) is ridiculous and you feel pity for him rather than be scared but blame it on the script because we all now what Christoph Waltz is capable to do as an actor.

Jay Chou as Kato is OK in the action scenes but some times is hard to understand what he is saying. Cameron Diaz has little screen time and very unbelievable as the brain of The Green Hornet operation.

There are some cheap laughs for the fans of Seth Rotgen and the action scenes sometimes gets over the top but in general the movie plot is a mess. You do not really know if this film is a spoof or intent to be faithful to its original brand at the end is neither.

The Hornet literally stings himself (See the trailer in its official site) in this movie and paradoxically the only way to enjoy this film is if you are not a true fan of The Green Hornet.

2 stars out of 5!

Excellent review CREYES. I'm a fan of the 60s TV show and I find every comment on this article very true. Watching the TV show of course sets the benchmark for the cinematic version. The GH TV series is not camp and GH is so much believable as a Bad-ass criminal. He never panics or even screams and moves like a douch bag when donning the mask! It is a serious crimefighting TV series. If you are a fan you know that the best tonality for this film should be like "Mission Impossible", "Punisher", and "Dark Knight".

Again good job CReyes. Finally somebody here in CBM agrees with me and willing to air their opinion. Pls if visit my review of GH film. Its my first article. Just follow the link below.

@ Xenix evryone has an opinion.

Im only 14 so I never watched the show, but to be honest I thought the movie wasn't bad. But you watched the show growing up so your information is accurate. I definetly agree with you on Miss Case though, she hardly had any screen time, and the fact that she was the brains behind the twos crimes, was just stupid. Also Green Hornet was incompatent, the most action he did was at the end when he took out four men then epically failed. As a huge sherlockian, I wasn't a fan of Basil Rathebones sherlock holmes films because of the fact that Watson was an idiot, while in the stories, he was well educated and even helped Holmes solve mysteries, so I can tell how you feel of britt being an idiot in the film. But the last chase scene was probally the best chase scene i've ever seen in my life. But in my opinion the best person to review this movie, would be people that grew up on the radio series, but i wouldn't imagine that. its amazing Kato went from just watching out for the cops(radio), to helping Reid(show), to saving him and doing most of the work(movie). Nether the less though nice review creyes.

The movie was enjoyable as a popcorn flick, but that was about it. In NO way did I ever get the feeling that this was THE Green Hornet. I kept waiting to see if Rogen was going to play the buffoon in the beginning and then get serious midway in the film -- BUT that never happened.

The villain was lame, Diaz might as well not have even been there, and while I DID like Chou as Kato, I agree that at times his accent was EXTREMELY tough. Rogen disappointed me all the way, and that finale with driving the car throughout the building was SO ridiculously over the top, it was revolting.

The ONLY two things I loved in this film was how they conspired to fake Britt Reid getting shot by Kato at the end . . . and the only TRUE star of the film -- The Black Beauty!
