The LA Times recently caught up with comic author and screenwriter Marc Guggenheim. Marc has had several successful comic book runs including a Blade story arc, the death of the fourth Flash (Bart Allen) and The Amazing Spider-Man. He also wrote the script for the 2009 video game
X-Men Origins: Wolverine; which many fans felt was better executed that the film it was based off of.
Along with Greg Berlanti and Michael Green, Guggenheim put into effect the script that is now being used for Martin Campbell's
Green Lantern live action film. When asked how he feels the tone of the film will come across on screen, he said,
"Honestly, I can only speak for the tone of the script because the tone of the film is really the province of the director and they've only just started production. However, our goal from the outset was to write a movie that was extremely faithful to the comic book and that includes the tone. In other words, it's not broadly comedic or silly. Nor is it overly dark. It's very much in keeping with the spirit of the character." Green Lantern will be filming in New Orleans, LA, through August 2010. The film is scheduled for theatrical release June 17th, 2011.
