Ryan Reynolds On Reciting Green Lanterns Oath at This Years Comic Con.

Ryan Reynolds gives us the skinny on why he chose to recite the Green Lantern oath for a child at the San Diego Comic Con when he had repeatedly refused to do so for reporters.

Drew McWeeny from HITFIX recently had the chance to talk with Ryan Reynolds at Fantastic Fest in Austin Texas. Reynolds was there to promote his upcoming film Buried and that was the main topic of the conversation. However, McWeeney took the opportunity to ask Reynolds about the small child at this years San Diego Comic Con who did the impossible and got him to recite the Green Lantern oath. The same oath that Reynolds had refused to recited for months prior to almost every reporter he came in contact with.

"It really was the best. Those f**kers kept coming at me to do the oath. It's like, 'Just scream dance monkey dance next time,' you know? But that kid? That's who it's for. When some guy's got a camera in your face, that's sort of silly and exploitive. But that kid? That was sort of a defining moment for me. It's everything you could want out of an experience like this. I've never had a film where my nieces and nephews were anticipating it a year in advance. And my friends I went to high school with? They're anticipating it a year in advance, too. So it's for big kids and young one, you know?"

"I met him backstage. His name was Connor, and he's from Michigan. I was vetting him to see if he was a plant, and he wasn't. And it felt so good. He was just a normal kid. He was there with his dad at Comic-Con. That was pretty much the best feeling in the world except maybe the phone call where they told me I was the Green Lantern."

Wow, People say that people in Hollywood aren't like the rest of us. Guys like Reynolds prove that there ARE exceptions. He had the integrity to refuse to say the oath in front of journalists in spite of all the complaints and bitching from us, the fans. He knows it's important to the fans. He wasn't embarrassed, it wasn't about recognition or his ego. A little boy got him to say it. A 'defining moment' got him to say it.
