Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has already made over $100 million overseas this past week from foreign markets, but now we have some news from the domestic front. The James Gunn-helmed sequel is tracking way ahead of another Marvel sequel,
Avengers: Age of Ultron, in terms of presales and advanced tickets. That movie later went on to have a massive opening weekend of
$191.3 million. Meanwhile,
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is still projected to make around $150 million this upcoming weekend. However one box office analysist said that the space opera will perform beyond expectations.
Since late April,
Guardians of the Galaxy has been the best ticket seller every day and is already way ahead of
Avengers: Age of Ultron while not quite as high as
Captain America: Civil War. While this shows that
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 probably won't come anywhere near the opening weekend of
Avengers: Age of Ultron, it is still interesting and fascinating to know that it's already outselling the sequel to the biggest comic book movie of all time. We shall see this weekend.
This is what a box office analysist had to say about the Marvel Studios sequel, “
Its popularity has grown exponentially since the first Guardians Of The Galaxy surprised audiences as a monster hit. The series’ visual inventiveness, coupled with the addition of Baby Groot and another fantastic soundtrack in Vol. 2, is fueling even more excitement as Marvel Studios looks to kick off the summer movie season in a massive way.” This certainly means great news for the opening weekend of the Marvel Studios flick.
