New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Set Footage Teases Some Earthbound Action
Despite showcasing the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems our planet will be playing into the action that will unfold in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel. Check this out!
We still don’t know who (or what) exactly Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot & Rocket Raccoon will be up against when they return in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 next summer, but it appears their inevitable cosmic battle will somehow spill over to our little blue planet.
Last week, the Marvel Studios production had transformed a street in the small town of Cartersville, Georgia, into St. Charles, Missouri, which is the state where Peter Quill was born before becoming Star-Lord in the comics as well as in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Though it doesn’t appear any stars were on set, footage from Facebook’s Allison Parker Hill shows several extras fleeing from something invisible, yet strong enough to flip a few cars. This something will evidently come to be in post-production with the help of visual effects.
The fact that this scene takes place in Missouri indicates the plot will bring Star-Lord back to earth (or Terra, as the aliens called it in the first movie). And you can almost bet that meeting his mysterious father, played by Kurt Russell, will play a role in this homecoming. However, it is very possible for this scene to be a flashback of some sort.
Anyhow, below you can find some photos showing how Marvel transformed Georgia into Missouri, which includes some fake storefront signs that nod to comic book artist/creator Jack Kirby, as well as comic book writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, who wrote the 2008 “Guardians of the Galaxy” comic series that inspired the movie(s). What do you think?
