Is This Who Sylvester Stallone Is Playing In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2?
A purported international press release for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has a cast list which names Sylvester Stallone's character, offering a big clue to longtime Marvel Comics readers...
The Italian website MovieBook.it Tweeted a snippet of an international press release for Marvel's upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which contained a full cast list for the film. At first glance it appeared to be a routine cast breakdown until it was spotted that Sylvester Stallone is listed as a character named Stakar, which should ring a bell for longtime Marvel readers, as a fan favorite character goes by that name - Stakar Ogord, better known as Starhawk.
Previously, director James Gunn has stated that Starhawk is one of his favorite characters and at a later date, confirmed that he would be introducing his favorite character to the MCU in Vol. 2. Unlike the MCU's revamp of Yondu's origin, Starhawk was a high-ranking member of the Ravagers in the comics, an aspect of his backstory that already has the Marvel fandom churning out theories for what this means for Gunn's sequel.
As for how Stallone and Michael Rosenbaum's characters are related (Gunn recently stated that their characters work in tandem), fans are now speculating that Vol. 2 will see the full introduction of the original Guardians of the Galaxy team and that they will all be leaders of various Ravager factions. Previously, Sharon Stone teased a role in a Marvel film, which involved her playing a superhero with heat powers, a special ability that aligns with two other original Guardian team members Aleta (who also happens to be Starhawk's wife) and Nikki Gold.
As for who Rosenbaum could be playing, fans are already crafting theories that he's either Vance Astro, Martinex T'Naga or Charlie-27 - all members of the original Guardians of the Galaxy team from the '70s.
