Brad Pitt On Possible WORLD WAR Z Sequel; "We're Certainly Talking About It..."

World War Z was a movie that just about everyone believed would be both terrible and a huge flop at the box office; they were wrong on both counts. Talking at this year's Toronto Film Festival, Brad Pitt has offered an update on the current status of a possible sequel. Check it out!

"We’re certainly talking about it, yes," Brad Pitt told Variety when asked whether or not he's talked to anyone at Paramount about returning for a sequel to this year's surprise hit, World War Z. Despite a lot of bad buzz before its release (which included budgetary issues, arguments between Pitt and director Marc Forster and the need for a completely new ending), the movie would go on to earn a whopping $533 million at the worldwide box office. "We have so many ideas on the table from the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how the zombie worlds work. We gotta get the script right first to determine if we go further." As for the direction the sequel could take, Pitt added: "We have so many ideas and so much information–we think we have a lot of stuff to mine from." The site also managed to catch up with Mireille Enos (who played Pitt's wife in the movie) and she too expressed interest in making a return for the sequel. "We’ll wait and see how the script turns out but yes, I’d love to come back."

Totally forgot about this movie's existence. Never actually saw it. I meant to. I liked the Zombie Survival Guide.
Heard this film wasn't much better than After Earth, though.

I just watched it a couple days ago, since it's in DVD quality now, and I have no clue why people bitched about the movie having no blood or gore in it. There was plenty of blood flying around form Zombies biting into people and what not, and the movie as a whole was absolutely excellent.

The criticism was not justified in any sense of the word.

That's cool. I thought the movie was decent. Hopefully they'll actually put stuff from the book this time.

I never watched it. The idea of a PG-13 zombie isn't appealing to me.

@GhostSurfer
I think the version you watched was the unrated version as that is advertised for the bluray and DVD release. The pg-13 really didn't have gore though I'm not complaining as I was surprised how much I enjoyed the film when I seen it in theaters.

I hate to jump on that bandwagon, but it really is a "Diet Zombie" movie.

It's not even about the lack of blood and gore (Ghost Surfer, compared to any other undead movie), but the lack of consequence and general interest.

The average character gets about 5 minutes of screen time, and then they're either killed off, disappear, are left behind, or become unimportant. Part of that may seem like it is due to the pacing, but the trouble remains: the audience doesn't care about these characters, just Gerry.

Also, GhostSurfer, compare the soldier's hand getting cut off (in one stroke...) to Hershel having his leg chopped off below the knee in the Walking Dead.

Hopefully if there's a sequel, it will feature characters who are on screen for a while longer.

Sounds like a decent film with a bad case of modern Hollywood content restriction.

How about something better!!
A dredd sequel not another two hours of nonsensical decisions with zombies

Best Zombie movie ever, genuine feeling of a world threat and intelligently presented, not just some stupid gore fest as Zombie films usually are.

Walking Dead bores the living daylights out of me with its slow foot shuffling zombies and annoyingly stupid cast of characters. I'll take another World War Z movie right now over any Zombie movie, right up there with Zombieland and 28 Days Later.

If they do make a sequel, they better make it rated-R and follow the book more. Just felt like low-caloried beer to me; it looks like beer but it sure doesn't taste like it.

It was surprisingly good. Not great, still with plot holes and lack of character development, but with all the reports of the reshoots/rewritten 3rd act, it still held up.

It was a decent film. Certainly not as good as the book (which would've been impossible to adapt unless in any way that wasn't a mockumentary, and suffering from an apallingly lazy ending.

Z was an awesome movie I really liked it .I haven't seen a decent zombie flick this year. The acting was great and I liked the zombies kinda reminded me of a cross between 28 Days Later and Dawn of the Dead. I would love to see a sequel.

One of the best movie of the summer and a good Z movie. I would like very much to see a sequel. I like Brad Pitt in this role, he's like he don't give a ***** about the apocalypse. He's so cool.

Contagion + I am legend : World War Z. 3 good movies.

brad pitt is that guy you really want to dislike because one thinks he's just another pretty boy hack with zero talent, but no matter how hard i try to hate him i can't do it. the guy obviously can act and to me seems to have evaded the typical hollywood celebrity lifestyle of DUIs, accidentally discharging your pistol in a crowded night club, heavy substance use leading to financial ruin, that sort of stuff. he just seems like a nice dude, he's authentic about his political views and backs up his claims of philanthropy with his actions.

The first one had a script? With each scene lasting less than two minutes, I couldn't tell.

I waited to see the Unrated version before seeing World War Z because I heard ahead of time that they were releasing an Unrated version on Blu ray and digital download and I have to admit I really enjoyed the movie, the added blood and gore really made a difference and felt like a real Global zombie movie on a grade scale unlike anything I've seen and I love good zombie movies and love Walking Dead TV show. I'm glad I waited to see the unrated version and hope the sequel gets an R if not I'll wait yet again to see the sequel on unrated Blu ray or digital download. I'm defiantly buying the 3D version at a later date.

What would they call it? "World War Z II: Now It's Zombier!"

Maybe they could find a way to work some of the Zombie Survival Guide into it. It would be difficult but, maybe. I've been a zombie fan from infancy (I've had to pay a heavy price in shitty movies because of it), so I'll watch a sequel........damn you......you know my weakness now!! DAMN YOU!!!

Loved the movie was looking forward to a sequel when it ended. I mean there's still zombies lurking around, now it's time for humans to fight back.

I also loved the score.

I love the book, so I was a bit put off with what I heard about them straying from the storyline. But I have to say I had a great time with this movie. That should be a lesson to all not to listen to critics and fan boys.

It was full of tension and fast paced. It's a zombie lover's greatest nightmare. We finally got to see a vision of the world collapsing under the weight of a zombie invasion. I love also that they did a different take on zombie mechanics and really grounded it.

I do agree on some of the negatives. I would have liked it better if we would have spent more time with some of the characters like Pitt's family, the special ops soldiers, the scientist in the lab, more time with Matthew Fox, more time in Israel in general.

My hope for the sequel is that they will give Matthew Fox's character more screen time, bring back the female Israeli soldier, and just take the time to see how people are living in an undead world. Remember even though a way to fight back was found, they were still a long way from defeating the zombies. The remaining humans were still living like refugees by the end.

I read the book and it's damn good. The movie on the other hand not so much. To me it was all about Pitt being in the spotlight and nobody else, not even the zombies. I feel like another reason Pitt starred in it was just because of his name, I mean watching the movie I felt like he didn't give to shits about his part, honestly. On another note it's about the ten year zombie war. A ZOMBIE WAR. You can watch The Walking Dead or Breaking Bad on television for more action and explicit scenes then this movie had to offer. My friend and I literally sat there and laughed the whole movie. It was that bad. Absolutely a HUGE disappointment for a zombie fan like myself, and probably Max Brooks as well.
