Diablo Cody - Evil Dead

Diablo Cody, the ex-stripper who found fame after writing the critically acclaimed Juno. She would later go on to create the Showtime television show United States of Tara with Toni Collette in the lead role. Recently though she has been brought in to clean up director, Fede Alvarez's script for the remake to Sam Raimi's 1980's horror/comedy classic, Evil Dead.

"It was really important again to the filmmakers that it remain totally grounded in reality and timeless. They weren't trying to make some hip trendy horror movie full of pop culture references. I really hope people don't think that that's what I was hired to do," Cody said. "I came in and worked on characters and relationships, things like that."

"I will say that Sam Raimi, of course, and Bruce Campbell are both involved as producers and that I wouldn't have worked on it otherwise. Had to have the original geniuses," she said.

They mean no off the cuff pop culture references, and probably minimal CGI. The story itself will not be realistic people. It can't stay close to the original and be realsitic.

What a waste of time and money, how do you remake a story without its main character? like BmanHall said, Groovy or GTFO.

Not too much reality. I agree they shouldn't make it like the third movie. The first and second are the best example on how it should be.

She seems pretty cool and all, but grounded in reality?? Evil Dead? And no Ash? Believe me when I say this to anyone involved in this movie who may see this, take a note from the remake of the Thing. AND CALL THIS FILM SOMETHING ELSE.

Evil Dead = Man named Ashley who loses his hand and has a chainsaw for a replacement to use in his epic fight against zombie like creatures called 'deadites', and this fight will eventually take him back in time to fight the army of darkness being led by an evil version of himself, and all of this is happening because of an evil book made from flesh and blood like to [frick] with him.

Realistic Evil Dead = Handicapped collage man develops terrible dimenchia on a trip with his friend to ruin every ones weekend.

Guess which one is cooler.

Oh, shit I totally forgot there will be NO ASH in this.

I have no real interst in this movie, but hearing it'll be light on pop culture references is a step in the right direction. I hate watching a movie or show thats even a few years old and suffering through all that shit. It really makes any form of entertainment dated.

It's always hilarious to see people take the "grounded in reality" term out of context.

This flick is gonna be a steaming pile and be forgotten. In tn years, if you mention The Evil Dead it'll still be the original that you men
GUNSMITH

MAYBE SHE WANTS IT MORE REALISTIC? LIKE THE WALKING DEAD OR SOMETHING? OR MORE SERIOUS?..THE THING IS WHAT WAS BAD ASS WAS THE COMEDY AND THE MONSTER BALANCE. GROUNDED IN REALITY IS DETACHING ITSELF FROM WHAT MADE EVIL DEAD COOL. AT LEAST RAIMI IS CONNECTED BUT STILL, IF YOU DO IT UNLIKE THE ORIGINAL...WELL I DUNNO, CAN U SAY "CATWOMAN".
