In the new Netflix Adaptation, penned and directed by Charlie Kaufman, a young woman finds herself at her new boyfriend's parents house questioning his very existence. In the video I begin a discussion on whether, through clue's presented in the visual and dialogue sections of the film, the boyfriend character Jake is infact a Psychic. An Older man who kidnapped a young woman to convince her to be his bride while establishing a personality that may not be her own. While visiting the parent's house the woman's name, occupation, hobbies, interests, education changes periodically and each time she begins to question it Jake reacts either directly or indirectly through characters or events occuring in the house. One element I forgot to mention is the use of the perpetually shaking dog. The dog's shaking is the only memory of Jake has other then old photos or the Urn that he keep's in his childhood room, which plays on Jake can only psychically control things based on what he can remember in his old age. The video also goes on connect what really happened to her in the film by explaining the metaphor's of the musical dance sequences that randomly appear in the film originally derived from the musical Oklahoma!
