Variety reports that the prequel to the Stanley Kubrick classic The Shining has finally nabbed a director in Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go), with Gravity's Alfonso Cuarón previously rumored to be up for the role. The prequel is tentatively titled "The Overlook Hotel," the name of the hotel in which the first film, as well as the book, took place, and it will “tell the origin story of the Overlook Hotel through the eyes of its first owner, Bob T. Watson. A robber baron at the turn of the 20th century, Watson scaled the remote peaks of the Colorado Rockies to build the grandest resort in America, and a place he and his family would also call home.” Mark Romanek will be directing the film based on former “Walking Dead” showrunner Glen Mazzara's draft for the original story, which may or may not be rewritten later on, along with Mythology’s Brad Fischer, James Vanderbilt and Laeta Kalogridis producing. No current release date is planned as of now, but one should be expected down the line if all goes well. Stephen King also recently published a sequel to The Shining, called Doctor Sleep, which is gaining some interest from Warner Brothers too. What are your thoughts? Sound off below.

You don't know who I am? Well sit back because my story is a beautiful tale of power and integrity, a captivating experience and ingenious story.

When I was sent to prison for a crime I didn't commit, I signed up for the weapon X program where I got some acid stuff in my eye which caused me to go blind except for whenever I shout the word, "SHAZAM." I was part of Project: Rebirth and given an indestructible shield, however I had gotten bitten by a radioactive spider which caused my father Odin to banish me from my home, only for both my parents to get shot in an alley. And to top it all off, I was exposed to gamma radiation when my mother died and I was abducted from Earth by a strange blue-skinned alien, which gave me the ability to teleport, shapeshift, read minds, and squirt milk from my nose.
