I meant to write and post this review last night after I saw the movie but I was so tired that I fell asleep right when I got home lol. Anyway, onto the review!

Being a huge horror fan, I was very excited to see this movie, in fact, I went to see it at midnight! Since I liked the Friday the 13th remake, I thought this would be very good, since it's made by the same company (Platinum Dunes). The trailers for this movie were awesome to!

The plot is that a horribly disfigured man, Freddy Krueger (Haley), stalks the dreams of Nancy (Mara) and her friends as they discover that they all share a common link from their childhood: they were all physically and sexually abused by Freddy before he was murdered by their vengeful parents. Now a supernatural force in their dreams, Freddy kills off the children that alerted the parents about his transgressions before finally making his way to Nancy, whom he leaves for last as she was his favorite.

First off, I was quite impressed by Samuel Bayer, I think he did a great job on this film. The teen actors were really good in this film, which actually surprised me. Rooney Mara and Thomas Dekker were good, the actors were ok, they were just there to get killed.

Now on to the big man himself, Jackie Earle Haley! He was born to play Freddy, and I think he may have just beat Robert England for the role! He plays Freddy perfectly, with his dark and creepy performance. The glove is also awesome! Haley uses the Rorschach voice but it makes the character even creepier and more scary. The face looks a bit weird (like a cats face) but it makes the character look even more scarier and it perfectley updates the character for the modern audience!

Do not hesitate to see this movie, even if you didn't like the Friday the 13th remake. Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes company have redeemed themselves with this awesome remake! The movie scares you, it made me jump alot, and the movie will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time! Finally, Hollywood has made a great remake!

-3.5 out of 4 stars-

nice review. I loved the subtle nods to the original. It wasn't trying to do anything to crazy with the concept. I liked the evil Freddy because thats how he was in the first one.

just went and saw the movie... I loved it.

The only thing I had a problem with was believing that the teens weren't 30... and of coarse the stupid parents who bring their 7 year olds, and their was even a baby in the theater.

I have to say, it made me jump, and that is all that matters. It takes a lot for me to jump, but for me to actually get some height off my seat is a first.

Go see it... it was excellent.

Story - 9/10
Disturbing - 10/10
Scare - 9-10 (I'm hard on movies)
Suspense - 10/10
Movement - 10/10

oh and yeah...
Nudity - 0/10 (Sorry guys) :)

I'm married, I don't care, that is why I only see how bad Meagan Fox is as an actress.

Nice review I want to see this movie because everything Haley is on is good and how great he was on Watchmen I definitely want to see this even though Friday the 13th and Halloween remakes sucked balls. I just want to ask is this movie relatively clean other than the violence and gore what is all of the content in it is their alot of language and sexual content or not I ask this because I watch a lot of movies with my parents and I don't want any embarrassing moments.

I'm a huge fan of Nightmare on Elm Street. When I first heard that JEH was gonna play Freddy, I was a little skeptical, but for the stupidest reason, his height. But then I took a step back on that thought and figured he RULED as Rorschach and he could only bring that "umph" to the new Freddy. Unfortunately I gotta wait til Monday to see this, but I'm sure I won't be let down.

Robert Englund? Who's that?

That is exactly how I feel about JEH performance of Krueger. In keeping this short, all I can say is this: They can take all the old Krueger continuity... and burn it to keep bums warm because this is what Freddy should have always been, this Freddy would've scared the shit out of me as a kid.

The review is way off for rabid fans of the series. Those who are casual horror fans might buy it, but to the most experienced horror fans it falls short. Robert Englund IS Freddy Kreuger and JEH proved it to me. He didn't do a bad job as Freddy... but to say he beat Robert Englund.. no way. Let's face it... there would not have been a reason to remake ANOES without Robert Englund. Those of you who enjoyed this remake need to step back for a second and think about that. A movie you enjoy was only possible because of a guy you're dogging. Freddy was totally evil in the first two Freddy movies... the humor and cheese began around the third film... but that is Freddy. The biggest failing of this movie was its overuse of backstory. I liked the movie... but I would probably rank it after the first three original films. If you pay attention to nothing else in my reply... get this... the introduction to the original Nightmare is still one of the most imaginative and frightening of all introductions. The new one was weak and completely typical of all the other recent remakes. The Michael Bay project is to capitalize off of every good 70s/80s slasher and create cookiecutter movies. I give props to Jackie Earl for using a couple of Robert Englund's one-liners... but do your homework please.

I personally am extremely disappointed with this remake. Freddy is my absolute favorite and this movie definitely did not do him justice. The main thing I hated about this movie was the fact that this time around Freddy is a pedophile. In the original he is just a serial killer who loved killing little children. In the movies he killed random teens that were usually having sex. Perfect. Everybody has their favorite serial killer, but NOBODY has their favorite child molester. For me personally it was so uncomfortable to watch for example, when Nancy says "F*** you" to Freddy and he responds "that sounds like fun," that sent shivers up my spine because it was so perverted. He continues making comments about wet dreams and Nancy wearing his favorite dress when she was a little girl. For the original they wanted to make Freddy a pedophile but decided against it because it wouldn't be received well. And for me it wasn't.
Also, I think Freddy's face this time was awful as well. When he would yell his skin flap would dangle about. That's just gross. The CGI wasn't that great either. While homage was paid to the originals it just wasn't what I had wanted in a remake.
Lastly, there is only one Freddy Krueger and that is Robert Englund. I can't say if Jackie Earle Haley was a good Freddy for the mere fact that I was too absorbed in the filthy things coming out of his mouth.
P.S. Horrible ending.

And also, I highly disagree with everyone that says that this is the best remake, I think it is hands down the worst remake. Maybe I am biased though because I had such high expectations for this movie.

FreddyisGod... Robert Englund's Freddy said "how's this for a wet dream"... jackie earle said it to pay homage to him... as you read my first post.. you'll see that I agree with you... i didn't find it so much disgusting that he was a pedophile... i always had that figured... especially since Freddy's Dead... but they spent too much of the movie dwelling on it..

The absolute biggest disgrace of this remake... was the scene where freddy's shape comes out of the wall over the bed... the cgi was terrible.. it was originally done with spandex and lighting and a real person behind it over nancy's bed at tina's house... one of the best cinematic tricks ever.. destroyed in this remake
