Tim Roth Says,"I've Talked With Marvel" About Returning for Another Hulk Movie

Does this mean he'll be in The Avengers movie?

Award-winning actor Tim Roth was the villainous soldier/monster Emil Blonsky opposite Edward Norton's scientist-on-the-run Bruce Banner, and Roth's "Abominable" character was on the receiving end of a Hulk beatdown at the end of the film--leaving the door wide open for a potential return.

MTV chatted with Roth recently and he had this to say:

"Yeah, we’ve talked about it — I’ve talked about it with Marvel," said Roth. "When you do your deal, you sign up for three [films]. So, I’ve done the one ... and basically, I don't know what they have planned, but they can bring me back."

"What they’re doing now is ... putting these characters together in different ways," he added. "With the Sam Jackson thing, and having [Robert Downey Jr.] come in at the end of 'Incredible Hulk' was the first clue to that — and I don’t know if they want to bring [Blonsky] back, but I told them I’m absolutely game for it. It would be so much fun to do it again. I’m in it for three."

"What’s been really interesting [about recent superhero movies] is, they're taking these heavy-weight actors and turning them into these characters, and populating a very bizarre world," said Roth of Hollywood's fascination with comic book movies lately. "They’re brilliant, but they also entertain the kids, and I think it’s a very smart move ... yet you’re still running around like a kid in them."

Awesome!!!

I'm a huge fan of Roth and he's brilliant in Lie To Me (one of THE best shows on TV IMO!) so I'd love to see either him or The Abomination return in either The Avengers or a future Hulk movie!! :)

at the end of Hulk, I don't think Tony went to see Ross about Banner, I think he went to him about Cap....why would Ross have any say in Banner joining the avengers.

i would love to see more of the abomination and emil blonsky, but also the leader must make it into the films somewere they left us hangin with samuel stern turning into the leader at the end of hulk.i though the incredible hulk was a excelent film and deserved a sequel. i also hope to see the hulk in the avengers. maybe when the avengers starts to film and they do all the promotional stuff they will announce a hulk sequel.and maybe the hulk leads right into the avenger having the hulk on a rampage,or maybe hes on a rampage because the leader is telephathicaly controlling him.it would be nice to see the leader creating a army of hulk like mutants, and it would be nice to see ultron create a bunch of robots for the anvengers to battle in the sequel.there are so many things they can do with these films and characters.

I love that Tim Roth will return for a sequel, but when will that be? Marvel doesn't seem intent on making a hulk movie for at least 4 years. And why? This is one of Marvel's A-listers for Christ sakes.

Nice! i dont care to see blonsky back, doesn't mean i didn't love him in the hulk, im just not sure where they would fit him in. id say find a way because i love how he's down to come back. he derserves it imo. almost polar opposite of norton.

he could fit into my idea for an avengers movie. where after loki fails at beating thor by controling the hulks mind, he finds general ross and strikes a deal with him to create the army of super-soldiers they never could in WWII (also after the failure of Justin Hammer in IM2 trying to create the army of iron men) Emil Blonsky could be the man they use to try and create the rest of the 'super-hulk army' that the avengers must unite to fight against.

imo opinion 'the incredible hulk' movie has more potential set-up material for the avengers than IM. but thats just because of my avengers idea.

Good on ya Sagekilz! "What’s been really interesting [about recent superhero movies] is, they're taking these heavy-weight actors and turning them into these characters, and populating a very bizarre world," said Roth of Hollywood's fascination with comic book movies lately. - That is a culmination of the awesome potential of transferring comics to film.

I really hope Bruce Banner(played by Norton) appears in IM2.

Sadly Norton says he's not but then again he could be surprising everyone. I hope Norton comes back for another Hulk. I thought he was fantastic as Banner

osiris- good point! how or why would ross convince hulk to join the avengers? that convo between him and stark could have definitely been about cap!!!
OdinsBeard
OdinsBeard - 12/30/2009, 5:00 PM
Osiris and Mak@

He could have been there about Hulk. maybe he was going to say something like 'he's not your problem anymore' or 'stop hunting him' or even 'can you help us find him'

just some spec-a-lation! good point tho.
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 12/30/2009, 5:14 PM
It was about going after The Hulk. Stark said something to the effect of "I hear you have a problem" and then "What would you say if I told you we were putting a team together?"

I'd love to see the abomination play some role in an avengers movie, Tim Roth was fantastic in my opinion.

They must bring him back!!! He was AMAZING as Abomination!!! He is the perfect villain, he should play Randal Flagg in an adaption of The Stand (a movie adaption that is).

@josh: Lie to Me does ROCK!!!

This is a great find. He really added a lot of intensity to TIH. For me, the villain of a movie really makes or breaks the film. Batmam Begins had your Tom Wilkinson who was amazing as Carmine Falcone, Tdk had Ledger, epic. Tim Roth, to me, was another actor who really stands out and can deliver role after role.
InTylerWeTrust
InTylerWeTrust - 12/30/2009, 5:34 PM
Roth owned as Blonsky. I thought it was an excellent to leave Abomination alive at the end of TIH. Leaves the possibility of a breakout from SHIELD wide-open...

I don't care what movie they put him in. I love Abo and injoy Roth. He owned the role in the first one. The Leader always needs Gamma dudes to lead.

@tyler@ That would be a good idea for the Avengers film all of the villains break out of Shield and they team up to kill their respective Heroes, Which forces them to team up and a huge war breaks out...... interesting

TYLER: Great idea - it would be great to see Roth/Abomination return in either The Avengers or any future Hulk movies! I just dont get why Marvel didnt get straight to work on an Incredible Hulk sequel as they did with Iron Man! Were the box office takings not too good or something because I for one thought that it was an overall good movie!!

InTylerWeTrust - 12/30/2009, 8:04 PM
Josh: No, TIH didn't do that great. It made decent returns I think, but not a Box Office (Hulk) Smash like Iron Man was.
