Iron Man is a household name in 2016, and is arguably Marvel's most popular character as far as the Marvel Cinematic Universe is concerned (with the character just announced as appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming). While the character was created in 1963, Iron Man's global success has only been a recent phenomenon, with Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel Studios helping to catapult the character to new heights in 2008's Iron Man. Despite this, the character has had several notable appearances in television media before his sudden surge to prominence, including headlining his own television show in 1994.
