Ok, so far rottentomatoes.com rates IM2 at a 73%. Only 2 of the reviews come from a "top critic". I haven't seen the film yet, and while I almost NEVER put much stock into what critics say is a good film (because most critics only consider artsy, and boring types of movies as being good), I really don't understand how IM2 could be thought of as a let down. At least not from what I've read from the lucky few who have been able to see advanced screenings. So my question is: What makes critics gravitate towards slamming a film such as this? Maybe it could be that CBM's are still relatively new, and after seeing the 1st installment they became so captivated by the mystery and possibilities of the 1st that they expect to feel at least the same way, if not more excited after seeing the sequel. Or, maybe they feel like every CBM sequel should be like TDK, and completely redefine their own genre. I know I'm leaving out a few reasons why critics are numb nuts, but please feel free to add your own!!!

I saw it this morning. It does feel like a let down. As soon as I got home I put on the first iron man and it is such a superior movie. The feel of the first on is gone, its as if they got a new director.

@grantale: Well, I can't speak to your expectations, but as far as comic book movies go, I thought Iron Man 2 was a blast from beginning to end! This is the type of CBM that fans can really get behind! It's got War Machine, Black Widow, Fury, SHIELD! C'mon! As for the "feel," this is a different movie. Tony is going through some major sh*t and not responding well to it. The first one was hopeful and triumphant. This one is a little darker, a little more bleak, as Tony shuns everyone and picks up the bottle. It's called character progression.

I thought it was awesome, just a larger scale to the first. It's a lot longer and takes alot more risks with timing and pauses because of the success of the first movie they can do stuff like that. It's really, really funny too.

I guess I'm just really against the cheese factor in comic book movies, and unfortunately the realism in IM2 has been replaced with cheese

That video is so brilliant, Favreau and RDJ are absolutely hilarious!

And I love Red Vs Blue so much! Of course Sarge is trying to be Iron Man, he practically is Iron Man already. I keep expecting him to take off the helmet and end up being Robert Downey Jr!
