wow, "Whiplash" looks worse than I thought. A Scarlotti Whiplash would maybe look good, but this mash up of 16 different characters called "Whiplash" looks awful. Scarlotti never used an arc reactor, Scarlotti's "whips" were powered cybernetically. Scarlotti has NOTHING to do with the Crimson Dynamo. Everyone is losing there baby batter over this movie yet they complain that orgin stories in other movies are wrong. The complaining continues when there is too much going on, see Spider-Man 3, but with 27 different charracters in this movie with 673 different stories going on I still haven't heard a peep.

MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kind of short... it wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but still pretty cool.
I was tempted not to watch it, I'm seeing it on Saturday so only a few more days but I've already seen soooo much of it, a few more seconds couldn't hurt.

@Sagekilz - thats because it's done well, unlike Wolverine or Spiderman 3, they were hastily put together and it shows... With this, it's so completely different... It's hard to explain, but it feels like it wasn't done to make money or just to keep movie rights (Wolverine), it was done for the love of telling a good story...

I'm actually very glad that the whole fight scene didn't last longer than this. Its more realistic. This was awesome!!! Whiplash brilliantly used the tricks he had planned but in the end we all knew he'd get pwned. I'm quite sure he expected it too. He had no chance.

sagekilz- We're "okay" with creative changes being made to non important characters like Whiplash. Favreau took a handfull of sucky characters and made a great amalgam. I like this. Of course, if your a diehard ironman comic fan, you won't like it but... there will always be people that complain.

@shaman

Good points, and well taken. I read somewhere that this movie is loosely based on the Demon In a Bottle storyline. I've read Demon In a Bottle and from what I can gather so far is that this movie is nowhere near that storyline. I may be nit-picking but I'm a purist. Wolverine was awful and so were a ton of other CBM. But Iron Man 1 was a very good-great movie, in terms of staying true to the comic. Just dissappointed I guess...

thanks guys... good thoughts...

shaman: i agree it makes it more realistic to last no longer than this... still they could have put more armor on him and made it last a bit longer.... still it's fine better than F4 any day and their fight was a long fight even though they only had really 1... no i'm not comparing iron man 2 to F4 movies! still i like fights such as spiderman 2 doc ock vs spidey on train!

tyko450: u didn't know it would be the whole fight? i told u above! duh... can't u read?

oh about spoilers: personally i love spoilers so that's why i shared it with u guys... maybe a few like spoilers just as much as i do!

iron man 2 is going to be great!

Look at 41-44 something just looks off. It shows a face shot of Stark with the heads up display, he looks then almost looks down then it freezes for a hot min. Then in the next sec it shows IR shooting his repulser ray from hand while looking towards the threat that is WL... Idk...

@shaman - Is it just me, or are you a bit arrogant? I doubt any "sucky" characters would make it to the big screen as primary threats had they not had some inherent potential to begin with!

In the case of Whiplash, Mark Scarlotti was simply a hired thug, so Favreau borrowed the concept of his powers and grafted it onto the original Crimson Dynamo's son to create a more compelling character for audiences. This method of distillation simply works better in the medium of film in which time-compression is necessary to move the story along! It isn't automatically a reflection on the quality of the cast of characters!

In the case of the Iron Man films and the current Batman franchise, the filmmakers have chosen to use lower-profile antagonists so as to keep the spotlight firmly on the main character where it belongs AND to build anticipation toward a more dangerous and formidable threat in future installments!

The Iron Man brand holds many very interesting characters that have yet to be exploited on a multimedia platform! I suggest you check out the span of issues between Tales Of Suspense #39 and Iron Man vol.1, #254 to help further illustarate my point!
