Willem Dafoe To Join "John Carter Of Mars" Cast

Willem Dafoe To Join "John Carter Of Mars" Cast

The veteran actor will star as Tars Tarkas in the Andrew Stanton adaptation of "John Carter Of Mars"..

In the story of a Civil War soldier transported to the red planet where warring races vie for control, Dafoe will play Tars Tarkas, a leader of the Thark race who knows that the only way his people can survive is if they turn away from war, a position that may cost him dearly.

Thomas Haden Church, who is also rumored to be appearing in the movie, was previously linked to the role. The movie will also star Taylor Kitsch as John Carter and Lynn Collins as Dejah Thoris, the heir to the throne of Mars' Helium kingdom whom he falls in love with.

It will be interesting to see how Dafoe will look come movie time as in the comic, Tarkas looks like this..

I'm sure his appearance will be altered slightly! Anyway, there's no doubt that Dafoe is a great addition to the cast as he excels in everything he appears in..even if the movies are not always that good!

Dafoe would be a good Sinestro. A friend of mine once suggested John Malkovich. Either would be good I think.

Oh yeah this movie sounds cool too.

Never heard of this story, but it sounds pretty cool. It will be interesting to see Defoe in that role and in makeup. This could be a very unique movie.

Isn't this a Pixar/Disney production? They are lending thier voices or will there be a live action element?

[frick] YES!!!!

Damn I can't believe nobody mentioned Wild At Heart as their fav, but I guess he isn't in it THAT much. It dominates Boondock Saints in every aspect, which I think is overrated (aside from Dafoe's performance). I would even list Spider-Man or Life Aquatic (another small show-stealing role) higher than it.

Hmm, am I the only one who seems to prefer his comedic work?

I actually think Saints is a little over rated myself, but Dafoes performance is why i put it numero uno.
