JOKER: Another Total Film Magazine Cover Revealed; Director Todd Phillips Open To A Sequel

Total Film Magazine has revealed another cover featuring Joaquin Phoenix's demented Arthur Fleck, while director Todd Phillips has confirmed that he would be willing to take the helm of a Joker sequel...

Joker isn't a typical comic book movie, and should it find success this October, it's easy to imagine Warner Bros. changing course and releasing more artsy, Elseworlds-style superhero adaptations. That's no bad thing, of course, as shaking up the genre will definitely benefit it in the long run and help to keep things fresh.

Now, director Todd Phillips has now revealed that if star Joaquin Phoenix was open to the idea, he would be interested in taking the helm of a Joker sequel!

"One thing I will tell you: I would do anything with Joaquin, any day of the week," the filmmaker explains. "There’s nobody like him. If he was willing to do it, and if people show up to this movie, and Warners came to us and said, ‘You know what? If you guys could think of something…’ Well, I have a feeling that he and I could think of something pretty cool."

Given what we know about Joker, a sequel might make sense, and seeing as we know Bruce Wayne makes an appearance, how cool would it be to see a very different version of the Dark Knight?

Joaquin Phoenix [frick]ing hates multi-contract deals, so, uhhh - good luck with that Todd. More likely what'll happen if this is a hit is that WB will ask the two of them if they want to do another project, and they'll probably do an original mid-budget drama.
Still holding out hope Paul Thomas Anderson re-teams with the Joaq though, especially since he has a new script that's been circulating actors. Those two together are [frick]ing dynamite

@tmp3 - I never would have expected to see bloopers from a movie like The Master, but they're freaking hysterical!

If he comes back and shoots nothing in between, he may shot at the amazing feat of having back to back movie turn a profit for the first time in about 15 years. That'll surely do wonders for his self esteem.

I hope this films over-performs just to prove that a "Christopher Nolan" approach to CBM's is the superior way to approach it. BUT...that is not the Joker so I would not be interested in sequels! It works as a one off...and that is it.

I'm surprised that Joker makeup, hasn't been more controversial.

This is the one situation where this is actually good news. I'd love the next Batman to actually be connected to this world (if it's good).
