We've seen a lot of Joaquin Phoenix's transformation into The Joker for Todd Phillips' standalone origin story for the Clown Prince of Crime, but this new round of set photos may reveal a major spoiler for the DC Comics adaptation.
Now, this scene could come from the middle of the movie or even the very end but, as you can see below, there's a very good chance that this is going to be a pivotal moment.
In photos which are bound to bring back memories of The Dark Knight, Pheonix's Arthur Fleck can be seen laughing maniacally in the back of a police car after being arrested in scenes shot in New Jersey. It seems as if this may follow the villain inciting some sort of riot as a stunt double for the actor was also spotted along with an extra wearing a clown mask and wielding a baseball bat.
The Joker winding up behind bars - or even in Arkham Asylum - is bound to have an impact on Fleck, and this could be the moment he's finally captured before spending years locked up waiting for Batman's eventual arrival.

Joker centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Todd Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
Joker is set to be released on October 4th, 2019.
