Ben Affleck Says BATMAN Is Seeking Redemption In JUSTICE LEAGUE

We saw Ben Affleck's Batman do some horrendous things in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but that won't stop Ben Affleck from doing whatever it takes to redeem the Dark Knight in Justice League.

Fans weren't too happy when they witnessed Ben Affleck's Batman breaking necks and intentionally blowing thugs up with his Batmobile in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Now, with Justice League on its way, Ben Affleck is making sure that the Dark Knight redeems himself, and he's starting off by building the greatest team of superheroes the world has ever seen. "Batman went to a very dark place that was rooted in this trauma occurred to the people that he loved and worked with and what he saw," said the writer/director of the upcoming Batman solo film. "This really is not about that issue for him so much anymore. He's no longer extreme in that way. From the experiences of the last movie, he sort of learns some things I think and now is ... I'm trying to say it without giving away any spoilers, but he's feeling like he's wanting to redeem himself and he's wanting mankind to be redeemed and he's wanting to make the world better, having learned lessons that were important in the last movie."

If you haven't noticed yet, Warner Bros. and DC are making sure they don't make the same mistakes with Justice League like they did with Batman v Superman by emphasizing the film's lighter tone. However, Affleck believes that DC films will retain some of the darkness that fans love. "DC movies are, I think, by their nature still a little bit more Gothic or more mythic rather than some comic book movies are, but [Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice] was a heavy, dark movie. It was really rooted in Dark Knight Returns, which is a heavy, dark book. This is not that. This is a step in evolution from that about bringing together all these characters, ones who had their origins and it's about multilateralism and it's about hope. It's about working together and the kind of conflicts that you have trying to work together with others. It's a world with all these other superheroes that exist."

Justice League hits theaters November 17th, 2017.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League stars Herny Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Jason Mamoa as Aquaman/Arthur Curry, Ezra Miller as The Flash/Barry Allen, Ray Fisher as Cyborg/Victor Stone, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Amber Heard as Mera, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, and Kristofer Hivju as an ancient Atlantean king. The film is directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio.
