New Magazine Profile Refers To Henry Cavill As "Former" Man Of Steel

Recent reports claim that Superman star Henry Cavill is on his way out of the DCEU and a new magazine profile calling him the "former" Man Of Steel adds to the speculation

Henry Cavill (seen here with director Zach Snyder) was last seen as Superman in last year's failed Justice League movie, in a truncated role that was a borderline cameo. A new magazine profile in GQ Germany has already called the Superman star the "former" Man Of Steel. Is that an innocuous reference? The jury is still out as various insider sources in recent months have claimed that Cavill (and indeed his co-star Ben Affleck) is out as Superman in the troubled film franchise.

The magazine profile does say that "whether the Briton will wear the Superman cape again is uncertain" but the writing might already be on the wall for many DC fans. Ezra Miller recently claimed that news reports of Cavill quitting the role were unreliable but Miller's own future in the DCEU is far from certain. And Cavill has already taken on the mantle of another iconic role in the form of Netflix's The Witcher that is sure to draw huge audiences and cultural interest as opposed to the stumbling DCEU franchise.

Do you think Cavill at his point is indeed the "former" Man Of Steel? Let us know in the comments section below!

Until WB makes a formal statement. It's still just click bait and rumors. Empty words...

As I’ve said many times before I continue to hold out hope because he is awesome and the role and just needs to write script and director.

@KingLeonidas - Maybe. I don’t really have a good idea of who it should be. I just want someone great who has respect for the character.

I'd much rather see a Man of Steel sequel with Henry Cavill over a Scarlet Speedster movie with Ezra Miller.

Yea, I too would also rather see a Superman movie over a Flash movie, and over a Shazam movie, or a Birds of Prey movie, or a Joker movie, but I guess Warner Brothers doesn't see it that way.

He's still Superman unless we're officially told otherwise from the horse's mouth.
Same with Ben Affleck as Batman too.

@BritishMonkey - Come on. Affleck is legit done. Does anyone expect him to be back or even want him back?

I don't understand all the bashing on his version of Clark. I can see why for Superman, but I thought his version of the reporter Clark Kent was the highlight of his character in BvS. He cares about honest journalism and takes his job seriously.

I don't mind Clark being Corny, but the bumbling idiot never made sense to me because that only draws MORE attention to himself. Cavill's take in BvS was much more in line with the versions from The Animated series and the Fleischer cartoons. In other words, the majority of the comics.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Clark being a bumlbing fool is because he has trouble keeping his powers in check as a human, and people would suspect if he looked and moved exactly the same as superman.

Henry Cavill did not sign a new contract with WB coz they have no immediate plans to make a SM movie anytime soon. If /when they decide to do an SM movie. .Cavill will be the first person they call.

If WB replace Henry as Superman then it will be the dumbest decision they've ever made, and they've made a lot of dumb decisions lately.

@bcom - dumbest was hiring Affleck.

@KingLeonidas - I don't think hiring Affleck was a dumb decision. He's great as both Bruce Wayne and Batman. I think the dumb decision was going for an older Batman before the Justice League had even formed. Having Batman already in his late 40s / early 50s doesn't give the current timeline Batman much longevity.

Allowing Zack Snyder to lead the development of the DC movie universe also wasn't their brightest idea. He doesn't really get the characters. He made Superman a mopey brooding sissy and Batman a half deranged angry murderer. He went for Elseworlds takes on the characters instead of concentrating on their core traits.
