Earlier today, we found out that Zack Snyder reshot the ending of Justice League to include "a hero cameo that will blow hard-core fans’ minds."
Those same fans have been speculating as to the identity of this mystery character since, and while Green Lantern does seem like the safest bet, it doesn't look like Ryan Reynolds will be the one slinging the ring.
The Deadpool star played Hal Jordan in Warner Bros.' oft derided 2011 movie, and rumors have swirled in the past that he might reprise the role for the "Snyder Cut." However, when reports resurfaced following today's news, Reynolds took to Twitter to debunk his involvement in the director's cut once and for all... while taking the opportunity to have another go at his CGI costume, of course!
"It’s not me," the actor confirmed. "But what a cool pirate flag to cameo as Hal. Maybe it’s another GL? But for me, the suit stays in the closet. I mean, computer."
There's a small chance this is misdirection, but Reynolds revisiting this role was always a long shot, so we can probably put this particular rumor to bed.
A Green Lantern does remain the most likely possibility, but unless spoilers find their way online in the interim, we're just going to have to wait until March 18 to find out for sure.
