Mark Millar will soon unveil his new incarnation of Kick-Ass (a military veteran who takes inspiration from Dave Lizewski) to the world in comic form, but the writer has already revealed his top pick to play the character if another live-action adaptation should ever go into production.

Millar recently sent out a Tweet naming Tessa Thompson as the "one choice that really jumps out", and the Thor: Ragnarok star has now responded:

We're not sure if we will ever another Kick-Ass movie, but now that Millarworld has partnered up with Netflix, there's always a chance that a series has been discussed - and if it hasn't, you can bet that it soon will be if Thompson really is serious about wanting to play the character.

@Kevwebsz - lol I highly doubt that she needs Kick-Ass of all properties to stay relevant. Besides, she's doing pretty good at that with her growing resume

@Kevwebsz - Yeah, it's important that a highly in-demand up-and-coming actress with her pick of scripts and projects does her best to stay relevant.

A Netflix Kick Ass series or movie would be nice.

I never understood why Kick Ass went to shit after the first book (besides Millar being sort if a hack). Well, I learned that the first Kick-Ass is pretty much a Matthew Vaughn creation that Mark Millar helped flesh out. It's moreso the comic is an adaptation of Matthew Vaughn's ideas for the film, but the comic got finished first.

I like some Millar stuff, not others. The Kick-Ass movie is one of the rare occasions I enjoyed the adaptation more than the source material.

Sequel was meh though.

She was undeniably awesome in Ragnarok, but her insistent public persona grates me. Social media bugs me, and yet here I am :/

I’d rather get a solo movie or show for Hit-Girl

Wait wait wait... isn’t this the same woman who went in on how it was bullshit for people to constantly refer to female action heroes as “Badass” but she literally wants to play a character referred to as Kick-Ass... yeah that’s just idiotic.

@Ha1frican - pretty sure you’re (purposely) missing the point on that one. She didn’t say not to call women bad ass when they are. She meant don’t just use the word badass to describe a female character because you’re too lazy to write a character that has any other character traits besides “badass”.

She’s not saying don’t call badass female characters badass. It’s that there are a LOT of female action characters that have 0 depth whatsoever but the directors/writers etc are like “Yeah, I put a chick in the film. Does she have any actual character to develop? No. But we gave her some cool action scenes. She’s a badass”.

Again to summarize, don’t use “badass” as an excuse for you lazily writing female characters with no depth.

Cmon. That’s not THAT hard to understand right?

As for the first Kick-Ass, I love both the film and comic; however, the film edges out for me -- the comic is cynical to the point of being too unpleasant to read after the first time.

Doubt her character will return after Infinity War/Avengers 4. At the moment she is only officially signed up for Infinity War and not publicly revealed to be in Avengers 4.

We have not seen her in the Avengers Infinity War marketing yet either - so her character being killed off in the opening is not off the table. After all, she remains a nameless Valkyrie whose character development boils down to a recovering alcoholic wanting to prove herself as a warrior. What better way for a Valkyrie to prove themselves than by sacrificing themselves - as demonstrated with the original Valkyrie in the flashback. It would be fitting for her character to sacrifice herself in a heroic moment.

If Thor 4 happens as the supposed 'Ragnarok Part 2' then perhaps we'd see her character return - but i think it's more likely that if Chris Hemsworth remains on for another series of films with Taika that she wont be returning. The actress also seems interested in other projects so i'm not sure she wants to be tied to a single franchise.

Decent actress. But unconvincing action star. I wasn't fond of her in Ragnarok, and I'm not fond of the new KickAss, so a hard pass on both of those.
