It really wasn't teased much in the trailers, but
Black Panther technically had two villains in their story. We all know how great of a job Michael B. Jordan portrayed Erik Killmonger, but he wasn't alone. In addition to the bad guy roster was Ulysses Klaw. He was played by Andy Serkis, who also did a fantastic job in the role.
Director Ryan Coogler opens up on the matter, and he's said this to
The Toronto Sun.
“I like Klaw. I was bugged by having to do that. It’s tough when you have to kill characters off and I really did love that character.”
He continued on to say, "I love Andy, he’s a lovely person,” Coogler exclaims, “But again, it’s one of those things where when you’ve got so many people in a movie, some of them have to go. Klaw in this movie, he’s just having a good time. Every scene he’s in, he’s walking in like it’s the best day of his life. He’s got a swagger to him that’s interesting and for me it was cool to see Andy act like that. It was a real pleasure.”
It's a shame he had to bite the dust. For the little screen time he had, Klaw was definitely a formidable foe. He was actually first introduced back in 2015, through Avengers: Age of Ultron. So coming back for Black Panther was a nice treat, without a doubt. However, will he come back?
Most likely, not a chance. His story has been wrapped up. Although, what do you think of Klaw's demise?
Should he have stuck around for future films? Leave your thoughts down below.
