The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town. Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo’s frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain. As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide – unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.

Starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Hugo Weaving and Orlando Bloom, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is set to be released on December 17th.

@GentlemanlyBatman, this is actually in Tolkien's other works. Jackson takes some liberties, but this actually happened.

Love the movies, but those ghost FX for the Nazgul look terrible and like unfinished cgi! I hope that it looks way better in theaters. Yikes!

I can't wait to see this theaters.

And it's nice to see Elrond kick some ass and do something other than be cynical and pessimistic.

I'm confused. Why aren't the Nazgul in their cloaks?

@ Charlie2094 - Agreed! And I love that Jackson is basically weaving everything together chronologically (again as he did with the Shelob scene in Return of the King) as when it's all said and done it tells the complete story WITHOUT having to jump from the appendices and expanded materials and such.

@ THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Because the Cloaks were basically for them going around the country and intimidation, they were just guarding Gandalf, and he can see them clearly (as can Galdriel, Saruman, and Elrond)

Have to agree with @LifeDayFan, those nazgul look horrendous. Reminds me of late 80's, early 90's CGI! Hopefully its been polished up a tad before release

Still as pretentious as ever eh @GodzillaKart?

@GodzillaKart: You haven't even seen it yet! Did McNya tellya?

Just because he expanded the story from what was in the book doesn't automatically make it a shit film.

I'll let you know tomorrow, but I doubt my opinion will change yours.

Maybe this film is where Sauraman would end up being corrupted by Sauron before betraying the council in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and yes, Sauraman in the Hobbit films is on the good side as he is helping Gandalf and his friend's fight off Sauron's minions, I just hope Sauron shows up to fight Wizards in his true form before he gets turned into the eye that he was in the Lord of the Rings films
