In an interview with TV Guide Magazine, Marvel's executive vice president and head of television Jeph Loeb discusses plans for some future Marvel animated series. Coming our way in 2013 are Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. and a new show which is said to be closer in tone to the recent Avengers movie, Avengers Assemble.
Says Loeb..
The Avengers movie has been the ambassador to the world for the Marvel Universe so we want a show that has the feel and the tone and the incredible adventures like that movie. So the next project that we're working on — and this is down in our lab, top secret, with the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents protecting us at all costs — is Avengers Assemble, which will be a brand new and really extraordinary looking animated series dealing with the Avengers in that same world.
We're still very early on in the process and we don't give away too much. It's safe to say that we're looking at a show that more closely echoes the tone and the feel of the movie.
Loeb also reveals that Falcon will be a large part of the show, and act as the "eyes of the viewer", being the newest member of the team. Apparently he is to be a bit younger than the others. As for what style of animation we can expect, Loeb says he wants the show to take things to the "next level" -
"In the same kind of way that Ultimate Spider-Man pushed the boundaries in terms of a unique combination of 2D and CG and using top-flight writers and voice actors, that's what we're looking for". Well, I'm sure this will be met with a mixture of "oh cool" and "What the Hell was wrong with EMH?" But at least we can look forward to this replacement, and by the sounds of it there is a chance it may even be in canon with the movie. Click the link below to check out the full interview.
