THIS WEEKS BATTLE: DC's Amanda Waller VS Marvel's Nick Fury
Nick Fury Bio:
The no nonsense director of SHIELD may not have any superpowers, but that doesn't mean he isn't one of the biggest badasses in the Marvel Universe. Fury originally served in the military, where he served along side his friend Frank Castle, AKA The Punisher and lost his "one good eye" in the war. As a war veteran, Fury later became an agent and eventual director of the international peacekeeping organization known as SHIELD. Fury is skilled in combat and firearms, and is a master schemer. Fury has been known to use blackmail and extreme threats against criminals to do his bidding. For example, in Ultimate Spiderman, Fury threatened to kill Elijah Stern (better known as the Tinkerer) if he didn't work for SHIELD. The Tinkerer built the Spider Slayers for SHIELD in the event Spiderman goes rogue. He attempted to use similar treatment on the Ultimate Six, but their leader Norman Osborn had plans of his own. Fury is a forced to be reckoned with.
Amanda Waller Bio:
If anyone can match Fury's badassery, it's the tough as nails government agent known as Amanda Waller. Like Fury, Waller was a soldier in the army who eventually joined the a military squad called Team 7, fighting alongside such soldiers as Black Canary, Deathstroke, and The Grifter. Soon after her run as a soldier, she became a government operative and expert in Metahuman affairs. She has played key rolls in Lex Luthor's presidency, CADMUS, CHECKMATE, ARGUS, and other government activities. Waller is an expert in combat and firearms and, not unlike Fury, often uses extreme methods to get criminals to do what she wants. Perhaps the most obvious example of this is her Suicide Squad, a team of supervillains blackmailed to obey her commands. If they disobey or turned against her, a device planted within their bodies will automatically kill them. Waller has a Batman-level paranoia when it comes to metahumans, which is why she put together the JLA. The JLA is a teamed of hand picked superheroes and antiheroes meant to match the power of the Justice League in the event they ever went supervillain on the public. A master planner and schemer, Waller is not to be trifled with.
