Since our Batman tv show article I have noticed quite a few sites picking up the story. Some have also taken the opportunity to lob a few shots at CBM while they were doing it. Of course, they will still report the same info (they need hits too ya know!), but along with admitting that there could be a grain of truth to the story (just so as not to look like COMPLETE hypocrites), they use phrases like the following:
That this claim was originally published on CBM. I can’t say it’s always been the most dependable of sources because they throw their doors open to pretty much anybody.
And..
it’s our duty to inform you that the famously dubious Comicbookmovie.com is claiming that Warner Bros.’ post-”The Dark Knight Rises” plans for the Batman franchise involve him coming to television.

Its their duty you see. No hit whoring on their part, DUTY!. Other sites taking shots at CBM is nothing new. In some cases their criticisms might even be justified. But its not always just criticism is it? Its outright attacks. Attacks that imo stem from a mixture of frustration that our site gets so much traffic, and a general ignorance as to how we operate. First off, let me say that our user generated policy does allow for quite a bit of rumor, speculation, and in some cases, lets just say it, bullshit. But what these certain sites fail to realize is that not everything that is submitted makes the cut or is showcased on the front page. If we as the site editors, or Big G himself feel that said rumor/speculation may have a grain of truth to it or at least spark some debate then we post it. These other sites can condemn that all they want, but the fact remains that each and every one of em is just as guilty of it. The hypocrisy is actually astounding. Since I'm not naming any names, I can't give specific examples, but lets just say I'm still awaiting Marvel to announce Patrick Dempsey as our Dr Strange!
Another thing I must point out is that reading stuff like "The notoriously unreliable CBM" and the like is just laughable. Are we posting these rumors as fact? Are we sticking a big EXCLUSIVE on em and feigning inside information?(That hasn't happened since we took out some of the trash;). We are reporting the info, just as these other websites are, as rumor. Hell we all know its extremely unlikely that WB are already looking at anyone to star, even if they are planning a Batman show. But we just posted the story as we had received it for analysis by our readers. I have been writing for CBM for almost 3 years now and in in that time I have amassed a few reliable sources, as many of us have. I'm not saying that everything we get is on the money, but we sure as Hell know when to take a chance on it and when not to. If any one of us knows for a fact something is complete crap without any chance of being true we do not put it out there. Its that simple. So looking around at some of these holier than thou sites I have to remind them that the high ground is always going to go hand in hand with a nasty fall. If you don't think our stories hold any water then fine, don't report on em. But these ridiculous attempts to sling mud are really not doing you any favours at all. Other, more professional sites, are reporting on the rumor and much like we do in the original story anyway, remain a bit dubious, but use it to strike up debate. Anyway, just my response to some pretty unfair shots at CBM. If these sites feel it will get them some attention, fine(although judging by the graveyards some of these sites call a comment section/forum I'm honestly not sure if more than 4 or 5 people even read it, let alone gave it any credence). But I think more people than they might expect will see their comments as out of order, unnecessary and most importantly, uninformed.
