Not a lot of shocks at this year's Oscars. As you can see below, all the movies (and actors) that were expected to walk away with the big prizes did for the most part, and despite the odd few surprises the results are far from shocking. However, despite Christopher Nolan being snubbed for 'Best Director' and Andrew Garfield shamefully not recieving a nod for 'Best Supporting Actor' in The Social Network, it was a very good night for two comic book movie actors in particular. I would've preferred Inception for Best Original Score. Other than that, I really don't see too many big surprises/disappointments.

James Franco should've got Best actor and 127 hours or Inception should have gotten Best Picture. Congrats to Bale though!!!!!!!!

P.S. [Frik] The kings speech!

@joker-i agree with you franco definetly should have won for 127 hours, but you have to remember its the oscars and really the only movies that usually win are the movies that really only get shown at sundance

Hail to the Queen, baby! Way to go Nat.

I was sad True Grit didn't get a thing but I saw it really as a filler for the awards. They sure were not going to give it to Bridges again. I was happy for Inception and The Kings Speech doing well. Both fine films.

Did anyone notice how many actors and actresses nominated or in attendance were in comic book movies. NATLIE PORTMAN, JEFF BRIDGES, ROBERT DOWNEY Jr., HALLE BERRY, NICOLE KIDMAN, CHRISTIAN BALE, JAMES FRANCO, HELEN MIRREN, HUGH JACKMAN, ANDREW GAFFIELD, MARK RUFFALO, JEREMY RENNER, GEOFFERY RUSH, ANNE HATHAWAY, WARREN BEATTY....A WHO'S WHO OF CBM'S!

Fincher got robbed bigtime. Its a shame. The directing was the weakest part of The Kings Speech. Hooper also hasnt done anything worth mentioning. So why was it given to him?

Nice to see Bale and Portman win! The Kings Speech seemed to clean up in everything else, I didn't expect it to win best Director as well.

Why would a movie about a guy stuck in a rock win an award? They glorified his life and then had the arm come off..uhm, boring.

Besides, a friend of my friend who knows one of his friends said 3/4 of that shit in the movie didn't even happen. GLORIFIED!! F^ck James Franco and his lazy acting.

@rodmius their is only one thing in 127 that didnt happen. They actually had the actual dude on the set for most of the filming. James Franco was phenomenal if u didnt read the reviews from critics and the actual guy, but ur entitled to ur own opinion.

The reason why I really didn't care about the Academy Awards this year was because my two favorite films of last year, "Never Let Me Go" and "Let Me In" didn't get a single nomination.

@spiderman- No there really shouldn't be a public vote because if it was then that means shit like Twilight or Justin Beiber: Never Say Penis end up winning Best picture, the Acadmey is fine as it is. The King's Speech is obviously a really good movie, I bet you haven't even seen it yet.

Fincher or Aronofsky should have won best director award. I was also little bit surprised that Vincent Cassel and Andrew Garfield didnt get the best supporting actor nominee. They were really good in Black Swan and The Social Network.
Everything else go like i thought they would go.
Kirk Douglas was the funniest part of this year´s Oscars... You Know!;D

tea@ lol ;)

I'm mostly happy with the results. Although I would have been equally happy with The Social Network and David Fincher winning the big awards, I think The King's Speech deserved it just that little bit more. A shame that Franco didnt pick up an award, but again, Firth was more deserving. Inception winning would have made my day though. Still cannot believe that Nolan was snubbed for 'Best Director' and Andrew Garfield didn't recieve a nod for 'Best Supporting Actor'!

Because it's for the best script not based upon previously published material.

I still don't really see what the big deal was with Inception. Could've won 'Overhyped Film of the Year' as far as I'm concerned.

On another note, I missed out on seeing the King's Speech, I'll have to check it out when it's on dvd. :)

James Franco was an idiot host. The only thing that saved this show was the autotune montage.
