My Top 10 Favorite Superhero Films

Check out some of my choices, and either agree with me or yell at me!

Hello everyone! This is my first editorial, so don't judge too harshly. Here I will be presenting my top 10 favorite superhero movies. Just gonna warn all of you though, some of my choices (or lack there of) may not be the opinions of the majority. But it's my opinion, and I want to present it. Let's get started!

10) Daredevil: Director's Cut

Simply put, if you have only seen the theatrical version, give this one a shot, because it doesn't have all of the story-building scenes gutted. It actually has a plot! This should've been a great superhero franchise, but because some jackass producer thought that general audiences were too stupid to appreciate depth in a film, that never happened.

9) Thor

This is my favorite pre-Avengers Marvel Studios film. This film is absolutely gorgeous, with an all-star cast. I am extremely excited about the sequel (even with the stupid subtitle). The only problem is that it's not set on Asgard long enough, much like how Green Lantern was not on Oa long enough.

8) X-Men: First Class

I frankly do not care about continuity problems anymore. Really, I just wish that Singer would go back and remake X3 to make it not suck (I really hate that movie). This film is amazing, in my opinion, and the relationship built between Xavier and Magneto is spectacular. Bring on Days of Future Past!

7) Kick-Ass

I have not read the comics that this is based on, so I'm not sure as to the accuracies of what is going on in this movie, but I was thoroughly entertained nonetheless. The tone of this film was brilliant, mixing graphic violence with bizarre humor. Another sequel that I have to wait for...

6) The Amazing Spider-Man

Now I know that people are gonna get mad that I have not included Spider-Man 2 in the list. Sorry, but I'm just not a big fan of the Raimi trilogy. This film, however, made me care about Spider-Man. Great action (love the web-swinging this time around), and I think that Andrew Garfield is the perfect Spider-Man (remember, just my opinion).

5) X2: X-Men United

I feel like this movie gets overlooked a lot. It is hands-down the greatest X-Men movie yet. I was surprised at how dark it was when I first saw it, but that just made me like it more. Great action, great depth of story and great development of characters. Simply put, a fantastic film.

4) The Dark Knight
This film truly pushed how far superhero movies could go in trying to explore deep themes in a realistic and entertaining fashion. Fantastic acting by everyone (need I mention Heath Ledger?) and a gripping story about how far one man is willing to go to fight the chaos that has taken his city. One of my all-time greatest theater experiences.

3) The Avengers

Well, Marvel did it. They took a very risky plan and turned it into a billion-dollar success. This is the ultimate summer-movie experience, with epic action, likeable characters, and excellent action. Unfortunately, the only reason that this is not higher on my list is that when you think about it, it really is a smarter Transformers movie. What I mean by that is, all the buildup is just for the last 45 minutes, where everything gets destroyed. Yeah, explosions!

2) Watchmen

I was unable to see this film in theaters, which is a shame because this film is a philosophical masterpiece. Strictly as an adaptation (I have read the graphic novel), nothing beats it. This is probably my favorite adaptation of a specific story ever.

1) The Dark Knight Rises

I can hear all of you guys yelling "terrible choice!" right now. Well, get over it. This film simply had the greatest EMOTIONAL weight of any superhero film. The last 15 minutes of this movie is my favorite part of any form of media ever. I'm going to admit this, but at the midnight premiere, when the movie ended, I actually cried. And no, it's not because the movie is by Nolan. It's because it made me care about its characters and see how Bruce Wayne's story came to a close. My favorite film of all time. I eagerly waited 4 years, and I was not disappointed.

Not a bad list. I love all of these CBMs, except TDKR. That's just my opinion though. And couldn't agree with you more about Watchmen, great adaptation, and great film.

"Thor was my favorite Pre-Avengers Marvel Studios film"

You had better be joking, Thor's movie was the weakest part of the MCU. It didn't mean anything, it was just really boring. It sucked horribly...it just wasn't like the Iron Man, Captain America or Hulk movie, no depth...no cool action...no deep storyline, it was just really mediocre and cheesy.

Well, well, well, here we go: TASM above Spider-Man 2? Sorry I can't agree with that...SM2 is the best Spider-Man movie to date, and my favorite while TASM is my second favorite Spidey film. Although many would argue Spider-Man 1 is better than TASM.

Also, I do believe you're forgetting two of the greatest CBMs of all time. Iron Man and Batman Begins were better than...

X-Men United
The Avengers
Watchmen
Dark Knight Rises
Daredevil
X-Men First Class
Thor
Kick-***
TASM

@ LEVITIKUZ
Sorry dude, I'm just not a big Hellboy fan. Don't get me wrong, I like both films alright. Just not my cup of tea.

@Fenix122
Gotta agree to disagree. I just like the characters in Thor better than the other films. Iron Man and Cap are definitely in my top 15. If I was looking at this critically, Iron Man and Batman Begins would be in the top 10, but like I've said, it's just my opinion.

Good list, even though I disagree about the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy. Here's my list:

1. The Avengers
2. Batman Begins
3. The Dark Knight Rises
4. The Dark Knight
5. Spider-Man 2
6. Captain America: The First Avenger
7. Spider-Man
8. Iron Man
9. The Amazing Spider-Man (I find it to improve with each viewing, hence its being in my top 10)
10. X-Men: First Class

Note: I don't have the TDK trilogy in order, as the three films shift every now and then.

I love how people describe Thor as having an all-star cast. I used to laugh about this back when it came out too. All it had in it was Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, and Stellan Skarsgard. Everyone else no one really know who they were yet.

But in all seriousness, nice list. While I agree that the director's cut of Daredevil is much better, it's still not all that great of a movie. I never liked Jennifer Garner as Elektra, she's too girl next door for a role like that. I didn't like her in Alias either.

And I agree with @Levitz what no Hellboy?

I'm sorry for all you guys that didn't like tdkr. It just hit me in all the right places, and I really enjoyed it. This list is purely based on my likes and interests, not on critical integrity. If it was like that, then Superman, Iron Man, and Cap would all be on here as well.

@ARUD007
I agree with you on TDKR. A lot of people won't accept Nolans movies(for various reasons) no matter how good they are. Let's be honest, before TDKR, all the hate was on TDK, now its rejoiced by even more people now that TDKR came out. When you look at TDKR as a whole, its the second highest rated CBM of all time, and thats pooling the major sites together. So yes, it is a good movie, and dont let others convince you otherwise.

These things tend to be quite fluid but...

10. Blade 2
9. Hellboy 2
8. Captain America: TFA
7. X-men 2
6. Ironman
5. Spiderman 2
4. The Dark Knight
3. Kick-Ass
2. Avengers
1. Watchmen

It was difficult to leave Batman begins out but really love Hellboy 2 and Blade 2 (both Del Toro flicks so I am psyched that he MAY get JLD into production).

Scott Pilgrim was also extremely close to getting in... can we do a top 20?
