These were based on awesomeness, emotional attachment, sadness, and meaning.

Student and Teacher
X-Men 3: The Last Stand
No one could have thought that Charles Xavier would be killed off. Although, after Cyclops demise, nothing was impossible. He and Magneto visited Jean Grey’s former house, where Xavier talked to her. After trying (and failing) to reason with her, Jean went berserk. She started destroying her house, using telekinesis. Lifting him from his wheelchair, she disintegrated him. All he did was watch what his former student had become. The only reason this death isn’t higher on the list is because it’s not that emotional, and it doesn’t affect us. I mean, it’s a bad movie. I did feel something, but not too much.

The secret weapon
The Avengers
My god this was epic. Each Leviathan death was amazing. From the Hulk’s mega-punch, to Iron Man’s ‘Jonah-style’ kill, to Thor slamming a chunk of it’s armor into the beast. However, while each of these deaths were completely epic, we had no history of, or emotional attachment to the Leviathans, they won’t get any higher on the list than #9. Maybe, if we had just a bit more history, they could have made #8.

Wrong umbrella
Batman Returns
I loved the Penguin in Batman Returns. It’s my favorite Batman movie, but I won’t get into detail on that. Now, at the end of the film, Penguin falls into a pool of toxic water. Barely alive, and coughing up blood, he picks up an umbrella. He opens it, and decorations come out.
“Wrong umbrella,” he says, dying.
His penguins then come out, carrying him, and putting him in the water. This is awesome on so many levels. The way the penguins come out could be considered cheesy, but I found it awesome. We also had a lot of emotional attachment to Penguin, which is why his death ranks number 8.

Stay away from Gwen
The Amazing Spider-Man
The Amazing Spider-Man may not have been the best movie ever, but it satisfied me. Near the end of the film, Captain George Stacy dies while fighting the Lizard. As his breathing slows, he asks Spider-Man to protect Gwen, by staying away from her. Peter agrees, and Stacy dies. This was a big part of the film, and it was probably the second best death scene of the CBM’s in 2012. I knew it was coming, but it was still a bit saddening. It also had some meaning to the film, but that was almost instantly ruined by Peter. However, we did have some emotional attachment to Captain Stacy, which puts this death at #7.

The only thing that makes sense
Watchmen
This death was made out of awesomeness. After being beaten, bruised, and broken, by an unknown assailant, the Comedian was thrown out a window. From almost the top floor. While we didn’t have any emotional attachment to the Comedian at the beginning of the film, we soon did. But they weren't exactly good ones. But his death was great, and pivotal for the rest of the film. So that put’s the Comedian’s death at #6

My answer is yes
The Dark Knight
Chris Nolan did something we never expected. He killed off a character that we cared about, and didn’t expect to die. But Rachel Dawes did die. And a horrible death at that. It was a sad death, and we had some real emotional attachment to Rachel. There was also some deep meaning to her death. But, as there are much better deaths, in my opinion, Rachel is placed at #5.

I’m going to move the coin
X-Men First Class
This death was amazing. When I first saw it, I was in shock. This death was gruesome, sad, and terrifying. And I loved it. While there are still three deaths that top it, only one tops it in terms of how. And the meaning? Only two. This death came when Magneto faced off against Sebastian Shaw. Charles Xavier froze time, and Magneto lifted a coin Shaw gave him when he was a boy. He put it towards Shaw’s forehead, and pushed it through. It went through his skull, and came out the back of his head, bloody. Charles was screaming the whole time. I loved this death because of the emotional impact. Erik killed the man who wronged him so much, but in doing so, became what he had been fighting against.

Mind your surroundings
Batman Begins
Ra’s al Ghul’s death was chilling. After a climactic fight against Batman, he realizes he’s going to die, with no way out. He simply sits down, meditating. His eyes are closed when the train he was on crashes, blowing up. This death proved that Nolan’s Batman wouldn’t kill, but is willing to cross the line, if the situation demands it. It was also sad, as we had learned a bit about Ra’s, that gave us a real emotional attachment. However, there are two more deaths that top this, so we place it at number 3.

They needed a push
The Avengers
You thought that this was gonna be number one. You thought that no other death could top the one of Phil Coulson, but one will. And one did. But for now, let’s focus on Phil. He was a fan favorite character, and for good reason. When killed off in the Avengers, I gasped. I knew it was coming, but I didn’t want to believe it. There was obviously some attachment to Phil, and his death had great meaning. It brought the Avengers together, and gave them something to fight for, and someone to... wait for it... avenge.
And who takes the number 1 spot?

The end is nigh
Watchmen
Rorschach died for everything he believed in. He wasn’t about to let Dr. Manhattan, Nite Owl, and any other hero keep what had happened in Antarctica a secret. He sure as hell wasn’t going to keep it. The world needed to know, otherwise Ozymandias would have won, and everything he was fighting for would be for nothing. So as Dr. Manhattan approached him in the cold, barren wasteland of Antarctica, he ripped off his mask, screaming,
“Do it!”
And the Doctor blew Rorschach to pieces. Korvacs death had such great meaning, and as he could be considered the central character of Watchmen, we had some great emotional attachment. His death had him dying for what he believed in, and that was good, no matter what. And while we may never truly understand him, he was a great character, and many people’s favorite. RIP Walter Korvacs.
So, that was the list! Do you want me to do another? Here are three choices:
Top ten fight scenes
Top ten master plans
Top ten secondary villains
