The Following is from MTV SplashPage:

Set in the "Terminator" timeline just prior to the events in the original 1984 film, Whedon's three-issue story kicks off in March and puts the spotlight on human soldier Kyle Reese before he's sent back in time to protect the mother of humanity's greatest leader from a robotic assassin.

MTV News caught up with Whedon to get some info on the series and how it connects with the greater "Terminator" universe

"We jump in with Kyle Reese, before he's made the jump to 1984," Whedon told MTV News.

As for the supporting cast, Whedon plans to introduce two new characters, Ben and Paige, as Kyle's best friends in the post-apocalyptic world.

"They are a little bit more ordinary than Kyle — Kyle being a superior soldier while they are just survivors trying to get by in the future," he explained. "They've all lived in the same survivor colony for the last few years."

While various publishers such as Dynamite Entertainment and IDW Publishing have put out "Terminator" books over the years, Whedon said the rights at play in his Dark Horse story are limited to characters and other elements from the first film.

"We're sort of restricted about what we can show," he explained. "We can't show anything that was not created for that first movie. It's mostly T-800s, all the HK varieties, the aerial HKs, and the tanks and stuff."

"In this story, the T-800 hunters are a new threat," he said.

According to the author, fans of the "Terminator" films will find a fair share of shout-outs to the movie continuity, too.

"There's acknowledgment of the fact that [Kyle's] going back in time eventually. He has that picture of Sarah that he carries around with him and everything," he said, adding that John Connor himself will play an important role in the story.

"Their relationship is going to be interesting, and further complicated by developments in issue #2," said Whedon. "John will show up in issue #3 and you'll get to see a little bit of the stuff that we heard about throughout the movies regarding John sending him back. You'll get to see snippets of how that came to be."

"It's great to carve out a little corner of the 'Terminator' universe for myself," he said.

"Terminator" #1 hits shelves in March, featuring a script by Zack Whedon

theironspider125- I have always been a bit curious about the time before Kyle Reese got sent back and the events that led to it.

If this goes well; he should at least get to write the next Terminator movie.
Also...Joss Whedon should be at the helm.
